Both Bertuzzi and the NHL want Bertuzzis career finished before everything is dealt with. Father time has a way of dimming the spotlight which would benefit both of those parties. As for Moore the wait will continue until then most likely.

Flutie...Really? So what you are seeing to this point in terms of decisions being rendered on violent ice issues tells you everything has changed due to the publics eye being larger? People that read the internet now all read the newspaper back then and all talked to each other except more talked about hockey per capita here back then as opposed to now. I could make a nice laundry list of long suspensions for less violent acts that brought about less severe injuries to players in the past. Hell Hextall got a couple of 8 game suspensions way back in the 80's for a couple of his big time slashes that caused NO INJURY to the opposing player and now stuff we are seeing now like last night  and many others gets nothing and you think they are going forward???

I won't comment on the jersey, that has zero to do with the politics of the NHL and violence on ice or how it's handled in the modern era.

Do really think the NHL hates all this attention and the zoo of publicity it creates be it negative or positive? If they did these same topics would not be coming up over and over again due to disrespectful violent acts on the ice happening over and over again and nothing being done about it.

You missed the point, in 1968 they used that death to create a fucking trophy they still hand out today. I have never seen that hit but have been told by some oldtimers that one of the two checkers slew footed Masterton to the ice causing him to fall straight back on his head. Ovechkin right now just to use him as an example slew foots other players on a pretty regular basis and nothing is done about it.

The NHL is well aware of when a player could have died and there are more than a few incidents these days to hang a hat on for that case.

They know full well about the internet and you tube and newspapers and television etc. Are they somehow showing you that they actually give a flying fuck?

The NHL is a business run by cold, greedy serpents like most businesses are and if someone dies on the ice they will handle it just like that other business the NFL handled young Mr. Stringer being practiced to death on the football field a few years back or top draft pick Darryl Stingley being paralyzed in a pre season game. Three decades later they put in rules about hitting defensless receivers. Darryl Stingley had already since died of his injuries sustained from that hit on the field......

Goodnight Bill Masterton, took them 11 years to put something in the NHL that would have saved your life. Wish ya coulda seen it.

Goodnight Korey Stringer, the NFL has still not officially made the changes to their pre season practices that may have saved your life as they said they would. Wish I hade better news for you up there.

Goodnight Darryl Stingley, about 30 years later the NFL put rules in place to protect players that were in your position, ones that would probablt made Tatum not hit you quite like that therefore not rendering you numb for life from the neck down and eventually killing you. Piece of shit Gary Bettman has never shown any kind of sign of humanity to me in any form when I have watched him or listened to him and I would not be so sure that even someone dying on the ice gets immediate change brough about as sad as that may sound.

I never said things can't and won't change I was simply refuting the fact you think things will magically overhaul in the game if someone dies and their track record along with other sport business' shows us this is not true. Comparing a disease which billions have been spent on for decades trying to find  a cure from scientists with one human looking at a situation and seeing it can cause death as part of our entertainment package and choosing to do nothing about it is just silly. Yes we evolve and progress in all areas but some we have more control over as people and simply choose not too control safely due to it infringing on our entertainment. After Stingley died in the NFL there was a ton of support to change hitting tactics but hardcore fans/gamblers wanted their entertainment left as is so money dictated no change. Eventually things did change but that took 30 years, more paralysis and serious injuries.

All I was saying is even if someone dies people should not expect an instant overhaul of the game. That was what I was responding to and yes we are slow as hell with safety changes be there death or not.

I never said a rule made them die. I was inferring there was zero rush to implement any rules that could have and probably would have yes saved there lives. Players had already hit their heads on the ice before that time and suffered serious injury.

Fact is if Masterton had a helmet on he almost certainly would have lived. There were already small groups asking for helmets in the league before the incident occured and had already been other serious head injuries from pucks and ice. There were a few players already wearing helmets at the time and more began to put them on after he died but it still was not looked at as cool and most kids and fans enjoyed seeing their players without helmets so it was left alone to make the fans happy and ensure the money train does not slow down. Eleven years later and some more serious injuries later it got done. It took time then and it would take time now was my point with death or no death in the game.

I have never heard an argument by anyone saying they should stop trying to find a cure for cancer or stop spending billions to find one. THat is not something we can control and you are comparing it to things we can and could have, like people who spoke up and said they need helmets or someone is gonna end up dying, which ended up happening so not sure how you tie those two in. Drunk driving was always illegal, it was just handled differently and yes goodnight to all those people that died due to us allowing all our grandfathers and fathers to get in their cars hammered and drive with other people on the road when we had enough sense to know people could, would die, and were dying.  Many people would argue to you that those laws are still out of date and that no one with a single drop of alcohol should be operating a vehicle.

As for this incident not one single person here knows what was in Charas mind at the time. As a hockey player I am pretty damn certain he knew where he was on the ice and he knew full well who he was rubbing out and into what. Do I think his brain stopped in that moment and said ok I am gonna really destroy this little prick? No I don't, hit him hard and take him out yes but seriously injury him no. His actions did however do just that so then a lot of it comes down to intent. As much as anyone wants to try to mind read only one guy will ever truly know what was in his mind at that moment.

The hit on Powe of the Flyers by the Oilers' Smid the very same night was dirtier and there was much more evidence of intent yet not a single word was mentioned about it anywhere that I saw. Powe skated away unlike Bartulis of the Flyers from the same kind of hit by Upshall a week earlier and again not even a whimper.

Montreal fans are clogging up the emergency lines with their police department....In Montreal right now demanding Chara be criminally charged as per cp24 news in Toronto. Montreal police are complaining that the continuous calls are actually interfering with life and death emergencies and are urging Habs fans to stop calling.

This would not happen in any other city with any other fans IMO.
