bottom line is that at one point individuals need to be held accountable for their actions. people can look at this as one unfortunate incident but there is no need for that hit. so even if he didnt mean to hurt him, give him a game because it was a reckless hit.
you are talking about the savard on begin hit..give begin a penalty because it was from behind. you need to make players pay for hits that are not necessary. and until that happens regardless of intent, these things will happen.
look at the pacioretty hit..you want to know why it wasnt suspended? because a player who gets hit is now putting himself in a vulnerable position..that is the excuse! brian burke wants the league to implement a bear hug rule where players can wrap their arms around players in that situation to put them into the boards..this would certainly lessen to blow of some of these hits.
