Very sad. Unnecessary. KC, like many other major cities across the US, has a gang related violence issue. This was gang violence where many innocents were caught up in the cross fire. Much more information to come out obviously in this sad story. Minors are also involved suspect wise so there has been some suppression of information because of it.

Gun violence and mass shootings are mainly a result of longterm, untreated mental health illnesses.
With a population the size of USA, there will always be nutjobs that fall thru the cracks, or just live off the grid long enough before they become the next psychopath that goes off the deep end.

There is a point to that, but you could argue that even when parents do all of those things kids still run amuck.....all of what you are pointing out there at least gives morals and values to them....problem is kids these days are just different...the act differently and a lot of that has to do with technology and social media....it's the one thing that the older generation didn't have and those problems were not as wide...now though, it is a huge problem....information is great and is very knowledgeable if put in the right hands but if you are using that information to do harm (i.e. build a bomb instead of building a bear...how to kill your neighbor without anyone knowing instead of loving thy neighbor) then you start to get down to one root of the problem....
