 Again what I'm saying is per capita statistics comparing to a country that has over 350million more people living in is flawed while firearms have pretty much banned . Unless a hunter/sportsman club while that takes multiple years. Netherlands has more illegal weapons than legal. My point is Indiana won't curb gun violence in Chicago folk will just go somewhere else like couple blocks , away, ghost guns ,or other states. I'm surrounded but strict gun law states . Folk travel further to get them or folk steal from licensed owners during burglaries. It's unfortunate but being able to get illegal guns in any major city is not hard.  Money talks . Most are handguns which is even more wild. Also I wasnt bring specific to 2024 was just expressing in current day there's wealth of info on firearms/illegal firearms/shootings in major cities. That by saying since you live there you know more than anyone else. My professor that was at John Jay would say otherwise. Chicago has pop of 2.6m and quite large. Ancidotal evidence doesn't hold weight vs hard facts. The point of having the most law abiding citizens with firearms doesn't mean we should then have less gun crime. Legal gun holders are not peace officers patrolling streets in the hood. All that carry weapon does is put them in a position to protect them or family in case of a violent crime against you. The problem lies with gang violence, beef with folk or just something stupid as smack talk. The idea of " a fair one" with fist is out the window common day. I don't remember # off hand but most shooting victims in Major cities have lengthy rap sheet along with the shooter. 63% of victims had criminal history and 70% knew their assailants. Here's enen more to support 60% of convicted felons admitted they avoided committing crime when they knew victim was arm and 40% when they thought victim was armed. Firearms prevent 2.5mil crimes s year with majority of the law abiding citizen not firing weapon. .........so much more stats that get overlooked. My biggest issue imo is criminals commiting violent crime for radical judges giving a slap on the wrist .....the end of the day we need safe cities . Starts with quality of live crimes holding folk accountable but now it's way worse. Police just arrest them 3 hours late right back on street committing more. I wasn't a supporter of stop and frisk but sure as hell now. Anything to get firearms off the street.

 Ok let's go all of Europe,is there any country in Europe who has gun violence rates like ours?If you added all the countries in Europe together to get a population as high as ours,would that rate be higher or lower then ours?Of course comparing gun violence rates between a country who you say has 'pretty much banned' firearms against the U.S. isn't the same higher population or not.But that don't mean it's flawed,the numbers are the numbers,it's just one number is a lot lower then the other number.That's kinda the point I'm making tho,the only way to lower our gun violence is to lower the amount of people who have guns,it's pretty much working everywhere else ain't it? It doesn't really matter if the Netherlands has more illegal guns then legal.The rates are for gun violence,not for number of guns that are in the country legally or illegally.

It is unfortunate that being able to get illegal guns in any major city is not hard.If we could limit the amount of guns available in major cities,it would definitely be harder to get them.What's gonna be harder to get a car where there is only 1 of them out there,or a car where there are thousands of them out there?

I never said since I lived there I knew more then anyone else.I said I knew more about the situation here cause I live here,then somebody who has never lived here or maybe never even been here.If you were looking for advice on a restaurant in a city you had never been to,or about a stadium in a city you never been to,or even about a neighborhood in a city you never been to.Would you take the advice of someone who lived there and had been to these places,or a person who had never ever been there at all?Ask your professor at John Jay what he's got to say about that?

No,"all that carry weapon does is put them in a position to protect them or family in case of a violent crime against them' is not true all the time.In just this one instance as an example,the weapons that the shooter in Vegas had,didn't just put him in a position to protect him and his family in case of violence against them.It let him be the one perpetrating the violent crime against people.Everybody is a responsible gun owner,until they are not.

 Yea the difference between here and European countries is theyre about 150 years ahead on gun bans and put strict laws in place. It's simply not a civilians right to own one. The country will grant you a permit to buy one after going through long waits being part of him clubs. Same with free speech. Many European countries don't have free speech.  Some have freedom of expression but you can't just say what you want. Same with freedom of press which is massively censored in many EU countries . They simply have completely different democracy/constitutions. 

Yes Stephen Paddock was a deranged ex postal worker/IRS who was actually quite successful. Bump stocks should never of been legal. You think red flags would've went off when he brought up his 12th suitcase. Regardless again anecdotal incident . Mass shooting make up 1% of all shootings.....yet the media main stream media will roll it on the news a week straight. The issue I have there is when it's other shootings in large metro cities just get no coverage as it doesn't fit the agenda of anti "AR-15" or "assault weapon" another made up name. A machete can be an assault weapon. They're semi automatic " long guns" . Unfortunately folk fabricate them like paddock. In my state you can only have a 10 round clip max. 

In my opinion the country at this point is never going to climate handguns which are the main issue. What ATF can do is go after greedy crooked ass gun brokers that have no problem unloading guns to inner cities or middlemen to cities for greed. Tighter background checks although again that won't effect as most are convicted criminals doing the shootings. 

It's okay for us  to just agree to disagree. The main thing is being able to debate without name calling.getting crazy. I enjoyed the back and forth . Firearms are tough subject considering close to a 10% rise of homicide since just 2019 which was low.. hopefully things turn around .

Anyone know what's going on with this? The news was hot and heavy until the shooter's identities were revealed. Now nothing. Just like that transgender shooter, why does the news not cover these shootings? I know, just wondering if anyone else knows.

This now allows for alternative facts, conspiracy theories, and everything else mainstream media does to sweep issues under the rug that doesn't align with the overall narrative.

Just imagine if the shooters were recent immigrants from the southern US border who lost their money to a local illegal latino bookie backing SF and this was their Deranged way to get even with KC...this story would be politicized 24/7 on all major TV shows.

Doesn't fit their agenda . Simple . It's so obvious . Just like here in NYC there's shootings all day some folk will die it will be about a :45 second clip on local news. No mainstream media picks up unless migrant doing the shooting, white supremacists or labeled as one, shooting with an assault weapon (another made up MSM term, a butcher knife can be an assault weapon) ....amazing meanwhile all these young inner city kids shooting each other day in day out with hand guns/ghost guns where multiple killed barely gets any coverage. Main stream media is 1000% the problem and now social media pushing same shlt . Media controls the masses. Absolutely mind boggling. Younger GenZ to dumb to read and will run with a Facebook/Twitter post or some 15 second edited clip. Sad

Both guys getting charged with murder, as they should be, even though obviously only one fired the fatal shot. They've released their names, pictures, etc. I believe her funeral was a couple days ago. I didn't have to dig for this info. It was all on the regular ol' 5 o'clock national news.

You just contradicted yourself. If there are shootings e etyday, then they aren't particularly noteworthy. Yet they still report them, as you said, with "45 second clips" which, quite frankly, is about as long as local news stories tend to be.

I know you probably don't watch much actual news in favor of cable news, where they take a topic and pontificate for 5 minutes, but that isn't news. That's more op ed/commetary. News is who, what, when, where, and how. It doesn't take more than 45 seconds to say, "There was a shooting on so and so street. Suspect in custody. Suspect at large, etc."

Going back to the parade shooting, one person died. Any death of an innocent is tragic but a story like this just won't get the same air time as a mass death event. And if the "MSM" picked up every local shooting, there wouldn't be enough time in the day.

It got minimal national coverage once full details came out.....this is well known . Would be reversed if thing like type of weapon , motive ect ect. Folk may choose to disagree but to each his own. Totally unnecessary and unacceptable situation. All over believing the other person looked you a type of way?? One of the charged Mays was previously convicted to pulling out a handgun out threatening someone over an argument over a basketball game.... should've be a felony but of course charges were lowered.He spent 5 days in jail and 2 years probation that ended a week before the parade shooting. He actually could've been a pleasure dealing lower than the top charge preventing him from purchasing a firearm. These incidents will continue to happen until radical DA and judges hold folk accountable.

Let's play find it on these websites, cnn.com, msnbc.com, cbsnews.com. I'll give you a spoiler, from what I found, the most recent stories were at least a week ago. Now let's say the shooter's were a white guy, 25 years old. You could book that being on the news daily for 3 months. This was gone in a week. Because no one wants to talk about black on black crime. Please show me where I am wrong on these news websites. I will be shocked if you can find anything nationally that is still covering this. 

I watch local news briefly , read and will follow MSM which is more entertainment imo . Quite comical. Mostly liste to AM News/talk radio in NYC specifically 770ABC . I commute in and out of city rush hour daily which allows me to absorb plenty. I understand MSM won't pickup every local shooting although if it's a mass shooting they're all over it. That's until it's again the agenda . When the incident first happen ever MSM network was portraying this a shooter at the parade to kill as many civilians as possible. That was until the clip was released of the suspects being tackled and the release of suspects and motive. That was the end of MSM coverage. Best believe if this involved a semiautomatic rifle or political motive with same outcome it would still being blasted on MSM . Granted one death is too many but with 20 shot including 10 children it could've played out much worse. Thank God it didn't. Good thing plenty of paramedics and a  bus on every corner. There were 646 mass shootings in 2023..Now I know dang well MSM didn't cover 10% of that number. Of the 38 mass killings in 2023 about 20% pickup up on MSM. That's due to the hand picking on killings that for their agenda . MSM is politically motivated poison.

 now you're contradicting yourself. Like you said news is short what, when, where ,how ect ect . I said national aka mainstream media .....which had coverage completely drop off before the details came out . Simply doesn't fit MSM agenda . No ar-15, white supremacists or politically motivated mass shooting. Sure a quick clip here and there but dropped off. They do have keep track of stores across MSM . 

What do you mean by "mainstream media"? CNN? I think that's where your hold up is. Cable "news" isn't news. When I refer to national news, i'm referring to actual network nightly news, which mentioned this story almlst nightly for 2+ weeks straight, named the perpetrators, showed their pictures, etc. I'm not huge news guy but we have the evening news on nightly, even if only for background. And even in a time with everything in Ukraine, Gaza, and all other national/world news, I heard this story mentioned just about nightly.

I'll ask again, what metrics are you using to measure "coverage completely dropping off"? How are you measuring the news? And which networks are you speaking of, specifically? I think you're pushing a false narrative with no substance. I'm sorry but a shooting where one person dies isn't going to receive the same traction as a shooting like Uvalde.

 Wait are you saying CNN, FOX , MSNBC is news ? Maybe that is where we differ because that's entertainment not nightly news. Top 10 channel News.since I commute in 3-5 hours daily of rush hour traffic or take the railroad I listen/read.  77ABC News talk radio, NPR, read WSJ daily and will catch some evening news. On 77ABC last week I believe cars &Cosby they were going over the coverage of the big 3 "MSM and the drop off of coverage after the video released of the perps tackled and what it stemmed from. It was a eye opening difference hence it didn't fit the agenda. On WABC it was about the narrative. One life is too many but do you really think if some nut with an Ar-15 did the shooting killing one , shooting 20 others including 10 kids it would have the same coverage as right now???? C'mon man it's not hard to see. You're implying I'm pushing false narratives yet you say yourself you're not a big news guy but have on nightly in the background..........just agree to disagree my " narrative " has been proven time after time in the past decade .

 Work on your comprehension. I'm saying CNN, Fox, etc is NOT news. And i'm asking what measurables, what metrics you are using to show a story "dropped off". Everything you are saying is hyperbole. Conjecture. You talk about real news and then bring up a talking point from a conservative talk radio show? What metrics did they use? How are they measuring news coverage?

Hey I understand to you free speech is a threat. And yes I am a fan of anyone who has common sense, Elon Musk/Joe Rogan are two that come to mind. While I'd love to hear who you think is a free thinker, should be hilarious and GFY again 

Because Joe Rogan came out for things like Ivermectin or other alternatives to the vaccine. He and Musk used to be heroes to the left until they strayed from their line of thinking and dared to think on their own. Just ask any black person who dares to try and be a conservative and maybe, JUST MAYBE wonder what decades of voting for the Democrat party has done for black people. My friends get called person, uncle Tom's, house ***** and shit like that and it's from whites and black people. It's sad.
