Seriously, just stop calling your bookie or stop going down the block to your nearest sportsbook. Get a fucking hobbie, a girl or a friend. Join a gym and begin with spinning lessons...

there is no cure for someone that gambles, if he has no money and he tries to make money and cant get a job
if he stops gambling
that would be evn more dangerous then gambling
if you get me
it leads to anxiety (sometimes leadin to killings, rapings, suicide)
to robbery
its like havin a parasite inside of you
if you watched alien or other science fiction movies
cuz thats the reality
we live in material world
and if thats somebodys only chance to make money
well then you cant stop it no matter how much you want it
i am speakin from the heart
if you gamble cuz you are addict
well then there is chance for you
think like this
if you gamble cuz of the reason i said above
there is no hope for you unless you win money and you can start sthin else with that money
or find sthin else that can get you chance to make money normal way
so if you gamble cuz of that thats like being shot in head (lilltle chance of survivin)
if its cuz you are addict (well there is a chance, if you can work on your mental health, go to communities, seek help)
so thats like being shot near hearth, so you have minimum chance of survivin

Honestly you should have a 100 units before you can start betting.

If you bet $50 a pop, that means you have to have $5000 to throw away.

Bet only straight games and at $50 a pop until you build up your bankroll and you can bet bigger.

But if you lose say $1000 of your original $5000, bet $25 a pop and if you lose another $1000, bet $15 a pop and so on and so forth.

Keep betting smaller until you win, hopefully you are not a total dumbass that you can't figure it out before you burn through the entire bankroll.

Always the warm welcome here on covers.  I think every degenerate gambler will at some point in their lives want to take a break.  There is nothing wrong with taking a break, Ive been gambling about 8 months straight now (almost everyday) and Iam ready for a break not because Iam losing but because its healthy. 
 
You have to remember this is the net so many a young guns will throw out ignorant comments, taking a break is essential if you want to gamble for the rest of your life (prof or for fun).
 
If you find that you cant do this get some proffessional help.

The truth is nobody can beat the system in the long run. Guys get hot for a while and kid themselves.  Everything is stacked in favor of the bookmaker - especially the vig - your laying 11 to win 10.  Sports betting is ruthless to gamblers and bookmakers, it takes no prisoners.  Many bookmakers go broke as well even when they know how to move lines and edge off action.
 
If you want to stop then don't make the next bet.  Don't think about stopping forever.  Just for right now.  If you think you have a problem you probably do.  If you can't stop, gambling will destroy you entire life and soul. Sooner or later. Belive me.  You should also contact Gamblers Anonymous - it won't cost anything.
 
I don't mean to preach but, you (or anyone else reading) can trust what I say. I've been around gambling, bookmakers, and wiseguys for a long time.  I also have experience with addiction.  Gambling, booze - same thing.

its all about attrition. bet 10 bucks a game. if ur good u will win money. whatever u bank BANK it. when u get to a 1000 then u can bump ur bet up. i started that way and i used it as a down payment on my house a year ago. now i am back to 10 dollar bets. that is all i can afford to lose.

1. The money you have already lost forget about it. I know its hard, but the more you keep thinking about that money, the more you are going to dig yourself in a hole.
 
2. If you must gamble, set aside whatever you can afford to lose (i.e. 100 units for a season). Think of it as lost money; money that you will never see again. That why if/when you do lose it all. Its not as depressing to you. Do not exceed this limit you set for yourself.
 
3. When you get down, lower your bankroll (i.e. bet $50 a game instead of $100).
 
4. A strategy I use when I am down is betting one game per day. If I lose, I double my bet the next night. If I lose that night, I double my bet the next night. Therefore, as long as your bankroll is reasonable and you are disciplined, you can always get yourself in the game because the odds of losing say 8 games in a row is against you.
 
5. Fifth and most important rule....DO NOT stray from the first 4 rules.
 
Follow these 5 rules and you'll be okay. If you cannot follow these rules. You have a problem and should not be gambling.
 
Anyone who has been gambling long enough has been where you are. Money management and discipline is the only way to have fun and be reasonably successful. I hope things turn around for you or you get the help you need to stop; whatever is the best for you.

Become a bookmaker and watch how many people win.    Then go back and bet.  It works for some people.

seriously though if you keep losing in the nfl you must be crap.

Its easy, too easy sometimes. joe public could make a mint just betting the pats.

better still imagine every bet is your last.

Would I bet £1,000,000 on this if your answer is no then fade yourself. trust me keep bets small, few and never lay any road chalk with away sides. totals are a nono unless the conditions are so poor its a guaranteed under.

get a hobby that takes up your free time.  It helps me to stay busy and makes me want to bet less or at least not focus so much on it.
