The family of Jasper Wu, an Oakland toddler who was killed by stray bullet, have voiced concern over Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price’s plans to not pursue jail time for the suspects.

Wu was driving home to Fremont, California, with his family on Nov. 6, 2021, when a stray bullet pierced their car on Interstate 880. The bullet passed through their front windshield and hit the ??23-month-old toddler in the forehead.

The bullet came from a rival gang shootout between two vehicles exchanging fire

"Our office is currently working on a partnership with the Asian Law Caucus to support AAPI victims of violence in ways that open up broader possibilities for healing and non-carceral forms of accountability".

Price revealed that her office is working to pursue “non-carceral” — meaning no jail time, even for criminals — forms of punishment.

  At least 4 dead and 8 injured following Louisville bank shooting, police say

Monday, April 10, CNN -

At least four people died during a shooting at Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky, and at least eight others were injured, police said during a news conference Monday.

The shooter is also dead, Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Col. Paul Humphrey said.

At least two police officers were shot during the exchange, Humphrey said.

Of the at least eight people transported to a hospital, two are in critical condition, according to Humphrey. One of those two is a police officer who is currently in surgery, he said.

Guns don't kill people, people do. Right GOP?

That is why the largest, most powerful militaries in the world seek the most advanced, high powered guns. Because guns don't kill people right?

That why guns are used in wars, because they don't kill people. 

In all fairness, those same militaries use people too. A they spend countless dollars and hours training said people. People are used in wars as well. There are plenty untraditional weapons systems used in modern warfare, drones, etc, but they all require people at the helm.

I'm looking forward to the day when our military decries, "We are implementing a moratorium on military recruitment. I am honored to say that we have now accumulated enough guns to no longer need any actual soldiers to fire them."

The gun used in the Louisville bank shooting was
an AR-15-style rifle, a federal law enforcement source tells CNN.

Can't wait to see the strongest, most powerful militaries in the world make a statement claiming we are eliminating the use of guns for use in wars and interventions. Our ground troops will simply rely on fists, knives, and sticks to do the trick.  

Of course, people are needed to operate guns. Talk about all time captain obvious statement. 

For those that might have a reasonable response to this? Is a mass shooting possible without guns?

Of course, people are needed as well. After all our society isn't a society without people. Does the human race exist without humans? 

Shocker. I find it interesting that in these public mass shootings and schools shootings, it's rarely a handgun being used as a the weapon of choice. The AR-15 seems to be the popular killing machine of choice. I heard at least one police officer killed. Somehow I do not think posting two police officers at every school in America will do the trick against a motivated killer with a AR-15.  Don't banks usually have armed guards and officers at the door? Didn't seem to stop this guy from doing damage. 

But what about the proverbial good guy (republican) with a gun?!?

That will surely stop all mass killings.  

We know this is a fact because republicans said so.

Imagine thinking that simply implementing more stringent gun laws would stop shootings given the proof of concept in states like New York, or my home state of California. Imagine thinking criminals are simply going to obey said laws because that's the defining trait of a criminal, right? Obeying laws and adhering to regulations.

And don't get me wrong. I'm a gun enthusiast but I support things like universal background checks. However, I'm also aware that there are plenty of laws already on the books that aren't being prosecuted.

The fact is, it isn't just a fun problem. It isn't just a people problem. It's both. And each respective side likes to point to one aspect and completely disregard the other. This is a multifaceted problem.

My opinion, the so called "good guy with a gun" being the solution is a myth, mostly due to the overwhelming multitude of failures the past several years.
