That is what we have now.  Not a "pandemic".  

Endemic.  Please spread the word to your two friends here so they stop referring to it as a pandemic.  This is here to stay, get used to it.

It's much easier to restrict residents of an island than the main land.

 

Los Angles has a population of 3.9 million with 503 square miles

Puerto Rico has 3.1 million people with  3,515 square miles.

PR is 7 times larger than LA and has 25% less people.

Oahu (Hawaii) has 900,000 residents with 597 square miles. Again, much easier to control islands with small populations and less travelers.

Obviously the virus is not going to spread nearly as much which lowers the death count.

 

Try to keep comparisons close, otherwise you're stretching.

 

The US also has the largest obesity % relative to population.

Obesity is also a leading cause of complications from covid.

Adverse events after vaccination are very rare.  Other countries have their own version of US vaccine reporting system.  Public health Ontario received 15770 (0.067%) reports out of 23,265,008 vaccine doses administered.  Investigations found 14,864 (94%) of all reports are non-serious.  For example, most common side effect is skin reaction.  906 (6%) of reports are serious.  Only 21 blood clots and 556 heart inflammation which are easily treatable.  Odds of winning lottery is far better.
