Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried just held an emergency press conference exposing a secret stockpile of 1 million COVID tests that Ron DeSantis didn’t distribute, let expire, and then attempted to cover up when she called him out for it.

Scandalous failure of leadership to allow waste of so many tests when there is high demand for testing. DeSantis behaves like Trump who prefers less testing so that covid case numbers wouldn't increase. Furthermore, he opposes mask and vaccine mandates but this is contrary to advices of public health officials. Even his controversial surgeon general discourages following public health guidelines from Center for disease control.

Gov. DeSantis says there was no demand for the test kits that were manufactured a year ago.
“They’ve been sending them out as requested, there was no withholding anything,” Gov. DeSantis said at a news conference in West Palm Beach. “There just weren’t a lot of requests in September, October, November.”
When the kits were close to expiring, Florida asked the FDA to extend the expiration date, and they did.
But on Dec. 30, the kits were still in the warehouse. The state asked for a second extension. Gov. DeSantis says if the feds authorize it, the test kits will be rolled out into the community.
The issue was initially exposed last week by Florida’s Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, a Democrat running to oust Gov. DeSantis.

A step in the right direction but still illogical. Data shows Omicron gets past the boosters, everybody or nobody should be tested. They have to have that CARROT to keep the booster shots rolling even though the thought process of limiting the spread is foolhardy. More a REWARDS program than anything else.
Checking World-o-meter COVID data I see again the nine states and DC who have mask mandates in place make up 28% of the US population yet had over 33% of the daily cases for yesterday.
You would think those mandates would cause lower numbers??.................if they actually worked.
