WH Defense Claim: The House never subpoenaed Rudy Giuliani. Therefore he is not central to the Ukraine scheme.
Reality: Rudy was subpoenaed for documents on September 30th and deposition notices were sent to him and 3 of his associates. Giuliani refused to comply.
WH Defense Claim: It was no secret the aid was withheld.
Reality: The House interviewed 17 witnesses. None were given any explanation for the hold on the military aid until after the controversy came to light. All documents are still being obstructed.
WH Defense Claim: The fact that Trump & Zelensky met at the UN exonerated the president.
Reality: Multiple witnesses testified to the unique significance of an Oval Office meeting. And Zelensky himself brought up the importance of an Oval Office meeting for his new presidency.
WH Defense Claim: There was no quid pro quo.
Reality: Mulvaney is quoted as saying it happens all the time. John Bolton has something to say about this.
WH Defense Claim: Ukraine did not know about the withheld aid until public reporting.
Reality: Two witnesses testified Ukraine knew of the hold before it was public. Ukraine former prime minister confirmed to the press that Ukraine knew.

Reality: That claim is a beauty. Trump solicited foreign interference in 2016, admitted he would do it again in 2020 & continues to direct a scheme to do so.

Trump's defense team is a disaster. Just wait until the questioning phase takes place during the trial.
Another dopey thing the defense is doing regarding Joe Biden is faking that they want to call Biden as a witness.
Biden was carrying out US policy regarding Ukraine and many Republicans supported/encouraged the policy while in the Senate.
To make a case for the defense, a lot Republicans would have to admit they were wrong in their support & no way are they going to lay under the bus for Trump to let that happen.

Bolton didn't testify because Trump forbade it. So Bolton had to go to court to protect himself and the judge's decision came down after the impeachment vote. Pretty straight forward.
