    @StumpTownStu

     A ploy and a scheme work because people do not actually research the validity of the lies being told to them. So if you really believe that electing someone who had four years and did ZIPPO, that a multi generational problem is due to 3 years of a DEM president especially since congress is evenly weighted, then you are being played it is simple as that.

    Trump has zero intention of securing the border...building a big thick rebar concrete wall is not securing the border, Trump cannot dictate capitalism corps to control inflation he has no more power or mind control than Biden does.

    If you want a good in depth portrait of inflation go and watch the last season of Clarkson Farms...it is based in the UK but a big chunk of the program was about inflation and how his small farm has to cope with rising INPUT costs, those costs impacted the production/farming decisions and forced him to make choices he had not before to get creative and try and make a profit. In the end they eeked out a profit but the result of that season shows to me inflation is rooted much deeper than just some politician giving a marginal few dollars to people and that those people buying goods and services caused this inflation, well on the first level of the economic chain (the farmer) the cause of inflation was due to INPUT costs...not that there was more demand because the UK ran QE like the US and there was more demand than they could service. Input costs, components of production, lag time in obtaining raw goods for production, THAT causes inflation. An increase in borrow costs that Biden had to deal with, THAT causes inflation.

    I asked several times and none of you lib-haters ever answered...show me the demand based data that validates the concept of demand push inflation due to an increase in cash in the pocket because of Biden. Show me that the demand curve shifted to the degree that forced inflation to THIS MAGNITUDE in THIS PERIOD OF TIME when the FED and TRILLIONS in QE for over a decade had ZERO impact on inflation. The quantity of QE the FED pumped into the back end of our economy did ZIPPO and yet Biden and bi-lateral stimulus programs forced inflation in a way that the largest driver of inflation could not for over a decade...

    RIGHT.....

    It is insane how combative you are, given that you ar a mod. Where do you come off claiming that I am a "lib-hater"? Most of my family and friends are liberal. My wife is liberal. Many of my own core values are liberal. I have said many times that my decision in this election is based on border security. Illegal border crossings were down under Trump, and have surged under Biden. This is a fact. This has nothing to do with walls and everything to do with policy. The numbers don't lie. Border security is my reason for backing Trump. What is your reason for backing Biden?

    While others blow off inflation as some kind of deep complex issue let us remember the phrase "Putin Price Hike" because the war in Ukraine did just that, exacerbated the inflation issue. From Russian oil and natural gas to fertilizers and wheat from Ukraine things got much worse than they should have.

    A president who gave a damn and had the simple forsight to see it coming would have gone all out to prevent it.

    A president who gave a damn and had the simple forsight to see it coming would have gone all out to prevent it.

    There's nothing wrong with a slow gradual rise in inflation when it keeps pace with wage growth. There are consequences for sky high rates of inflation that we've seen under this current admin.

      Wise up...

     ....& do what.....vote for Harris? Sorry, but long, drawn-out responses don't sway me into not believing my lyin eyes. I'm like Stu.....I don't "toe a party line". I agree/disagree with some things on both sides of the aisle. I don't idolize anyone, much less any politician. They all lie.....the media lies.....pundits lie. Are you suggesting the liars you support are better than the liars we support? Or is it purely "orange man-bad....must be stopped at all costs"?

     Step back & take a look at what is happening right now. It's chaos........that's the point of this thread.

    I would rather try to combat the border issue by building a wall than doing nothing....at least an effort in trying something is better than doing nothing at all...

    If the border isn't an issue, as many state, than why have border patrol or why have checkpoints anywhere along the borderan_light

    No President has ever tried to do anything different at the border in all the years of every presidency....and you can's say it is not needed or isn't important because otherwise you wouldn't have border patrol or checkpoints....it is necessary and it is a problem and has been for decades....people should get on board with trying something rather than doing nothing and bitching about it...who knows if a wall works or doesn't work, but keeping it the way it is isn't helping the situation either...I would lean more towards what the border towns think than someone from Washington or Minnesota...they are only impacted by who gets in not what is transpiring directly on the border....

    If you are opposing the wall then you may be opposed to change in general...lots of wasted money is spent on many things but why not try something that could potentially deter some from entering the States illegally....if it makes some people feel safer than I'm all for it...it may not be for you, but there are many that would like something done and yet propose no solution because they think the border is not a problem...it is a problem and has been....so keep opposing a change that may or may not work or may or may not be a solution to those people and towns that live around our US border...tell them to pound sand and tell them we don't care about them....that is what you are doing by opposing any type of change around our border...a big middle finger to them...sad

    Great question here....  I'll go ahead and go out on a long strong limb here and say the answer in many people's minds to this is "YES".

    Blind allegiance to tribal politics.  It is ingrained in that generation.  Did you not see this past week how the entire MSM apparatus pivoted to how amazing of a candidate they have now in Kamala??  Pull the 'ole switcheroo and replace one talking head with another, not even skipping a beat as the entire DNC and their supporters tossed Jeo aside without a thought, closing up rank so fast without a mere whisper of discontent....envious of a military op.  The RNC could never dream of such a scenario being a reality within their party.

    "My liar is better than your liar" should be the campaign slogan year in and year out in our Country.

    You will not survive here. You are not a wolf, and this is the land of wolves now...

     Your suggestion is that Biden caused this massive inflation we saw, that is why you and I are discussing it. Ive said my bit on the topic many times but when people (like you) come and suggest things that make no sense then it drags me back in like a bad episode of a sitcom. The FED and several presidents, several Treasury Secretaries tried for over a decade using TRILLIONS in QE to move the needle slowly, it didnt work..thats TRILLIONS over a decade in time. Then ole sleepy Joe comes in and gets some bi-partisan stimmy checks and poorly executed small business scams and then wammo we get the inflation we couldnt get from the professionals and a multiple more. That just makes zero sense especially given the complexity of our economy, our JIT inventory models and the speed of capital to businesses that it is even possible.

    Just go watch Clarkson Farms and see the real cause of inflation...and then add in a big dump of corporate greed (which we still are experiencing).

    Its tough for corps to get off the stock market caffeine boost that screwing the consumer gives them and their stock based compensation. It will take citizens slowing consumption to force prices down. My consumption has dropped a TON because I refuse to get hosed at the grocery store so Ive slowed way down and shop very carefully and like never dine out.

    @ABooksNightmare

     I'm saying for the X number of times that the wall does nothing, I am not opposed to border security but this is NOT security, that is my point. The wall is like me having a pipe being broken from the main service from the city to my house (which happens btw) and me putting more landscape rock over the top of the ground so i dont see the impact of the massive gushing water coming out and calling it a day.

    The wall does not solve the problem, the wall is a massive cost and time zap which does not equip the border patrol and fix the issue. I want to fix the issue not listen to blabber mouth chanting another build the wall chant shaking his fat flabby arms and then stupid voters rush to the polls.

    I'd like the US to either commit and do it right knowing there will be a never ending cost and commitment and do it right OR admit there is no value in spending the time and resourced and just be honest. A wall is not a solution it does nothing and does not keep out the people we want out. Its a weak sauce vote grab and nothing else.

     Track back to the root of this back and forth...someone uses the term LIBERALS as to a point of discussion and blame, thus how should you be grouped? If you are offended that I said the term "lib-hater" then dont use the word LIBERALS in making a point and pushing blame.

    I'm glad you have "liberal" friends and family, good odds that unless you live in the deep south in an extremely ultra conservative area that you WOULD have some association with other political parties.

     Its a generalization in a negative way, same as lib-hating is a generalization. Blaming one group for issues of the whole is what I would consider negative. Its nice that you know "liberals" but that does not mean you are not blaming one group as you regularly do.

    Ive seen other terms being used that are quite a bit more harsh than "lib-hating" but if you want to get offended you can, it would also be cool if you made every effort to not offend others given that you were offended by a general term like this.

    When Trump is clean of abuse then you can cry for him being picked on now and then. He is over weight, if that offends you or him then get the guy on a diet and slim him up.

    "Liberal" and "conservative" have always been identifiers but now simply referring to liberals apparently has assumed negative connotation. Sounds like self hate.

    Please show me where I referred to you directly as a "liberal" or made any statement that would denote "liberal" being a derogatory term. Or as I have asked many times, show me where I have been a" lib-hater". The very utterance minimizes my opinions as simply being anti-liberal as opposed to being based on policies and facts.

    @StumpTownStu

     Here is how you are a "lib-hater" if you have a large quantity of negative comments towards "liberals" and towards liberal posters then a general categorization could easily be made but unlike others here I am not seeking to label or insult as to a political affiliation rather my comment was that IF you have the view(s) that you post which are negative, combative, confrontive whatever other descriptors you want to toss on the list...IF you have those views as a general narrative then you could associate with that group. There are many here in this very forum that I would categorize as such and maybe that is because some posters here are annoying and bring your emotions to a boil and you get upset towards them and the posting styles they have.

    I dont think you are a "hater" in an angry way rather you are strongly opposite of a good deal of what you deem as "liberal" in political definition and beliefs and focus. I also think that most here are blurred in the real definition of what is liberal and what is moderate and what is against this specific candidate. I tend to think if your side had a candidate that was not so horrible, the combative and cult comments you see would not take place much if at all.

    Trump has degraded politics and divided society due to his toxic, zero ego approach to political discord so it does the same for both sides for voters in this election. People who are either blind loyal Trump fans and not really RNC get very defensive and combative and the ultra-conservative Christian voters who mistakenly fall for the schemes regarding the direction of this country do the same. I dont recall ever seeing the divide and fighting in society that we see now and I attribute that 100% to Trump and his lack of respect of others and his daily insults and attacks on those he opposes.

     And how many trillions has been added to the debt under this current admin? In less than 4 years. So I guess the answer on how to raise inflation, since you seem to be ok with it, is to print money, allow corporations to get greedy immediately after the money printer goes off, spend countless dollars on a foreign war, spend countless days going after Trump, and letting the gov't waste as many dollars as they possibly can and now that inflation is up after decades of QE, we're good and this is where we should have been decades ago?

    Citizens will slow spending AFTER they've maxed out their credit cards and get denied for a new one. Delinquencies have been running higher at a rapid pace. Experts like to use numbers that paint a rosy picture which is why this has not been discussed or mentioned over mEdiA. Either people need to start getting lessons from you on how to spend and tighten their budget, or eventually interest will eat everyone away. FED will not lower rates anytime soon and they won't raise them anytime soon for fear of destroying even more banks.
