How do you have so many posts?
Are you an emoticon abuser? And you have more than six times the posts as me and I have a lot? |

Well the lines for the first games are released at 5dimes. Some of them surprised me a bit.
Group A Portugal -137 Turkey +427 Draw +243 Czech Republic +172 Switzerland +172 Draw +208 Group B Croatia -104 Austria +320 Draw +220 Poland +582 Germany -182 Draw +280 Group C France -126 Romania +364 Draw +250 Italy +149 Netherlands +206 Draw +206 Group D Russia +392 Spain -134 Draw +254 Sweden +156 Greece +196 Draw +206 Right now I am leaning with Portugal pk, Germany pk, Romania +1 (whenever those lines come out), Sweden pk, Spain pk, and Czech/Switz draw. Those are just leans though, still a couple days to do some research. I have put in these future bets though. Pending plays Portugal to win Group A (+140) 5 units Czech Republic to win Group A (+260) 5 units Germany to win Group B (-155) 4 units Spain to win Group D (-114) 3 units Germany to win Euro 2008 (+410) 4 units Spain to win Euro 2008 (+580) 4 units Portugal to win Euro 2008 (+760) 3 units France to win Euro 2008 (+885) 3 units I don't see anyone outside of the above four winning the title. I know Italy is a favorite, but I can't see them winning both the World Cup and the Euro Cup. If anyone has any thoughts on the first matchups please share, it would be greatly appreciated. I follow soccer, but living in Canada I probably wouldn't know as much or have the access to all the information Europeans might have. Also anyone that knows a book that offers "to advance past group stage" could you let me know. I want to place bets on Poland, Romania and Sweden to advance past the group stage, but can only find "to win group" options, which I don't think any will. Thanks. |

GO CELTS, GO BRUINS, GO PATS.....RA RA RA RA RA....I'M A "HOMER" AS YOU CALL IT....THATS FINE...I AM BECAUSE I LIKE AND CHAMPIONSHIP PARADES ...THEY'RE FUN TO WATCH!!! At first I was cheering for Boston in this series because1) they are representing the East and 2) I can't stand Laker fans and they would be at an all time annoyance level if they win the title, but now I am starting to realize Celtic fans are just as annoying. Is there any way both these teams can lose so we don't have to put up with all these stupid fans? |

thats exactly when it should be on. people have seen enough meaningless nonsense college bowl games. Jan 1 outdoors every year is great for the NHL |

Tallet has actually been great this year, but that was one terrible outing. He faced three batters and all of them reach base, and he makes a terrible error on top of that.
Still, I'll take that 1.57 ERA he has given us all day long. Time to regroup and try to win the series tomorrow. |

I love that Oakland/Texas under. Not sure about the Jays under with Burnett and Garland on the mound..Burnett can go 5 scoreless innings and then give up 4 runs in one inning. He gets rattled too easily. He has nasty stuff though.
5dimes has the opening number for the Mets game at 8 also, but that's with laying 20 cents juice. Good luck. |

This should be a great game. Two historic teams, an historic field, and most likely the defending champions.
Hopefully they don't put it on at the same time as the college football bowl games though as it would be very hard for me to watch it over a bowl game. |

Notre Dame will probably be an 8-4 team this year. They should be though. They have top recruiting classes every year, have a weak schedule next season and are coming off a humiliating season.
I think they will be good to bet early on and fade later in the season after they've picked up a few wins and are overvalued again. |

1. Tom Brady
2. Peyton Manning 3. Big Ben 4. Carson Palmer 5. Jay Cutler Eli Manning was underrated for most of last year when a lot of fans were saying he was only the top pick because of his last name and that he'll never be a good QB etc, but now that he won the Super Bowl he enters the year as possibly the most overrated QB in the league, at least in my opinion. I was always a fan of this guy when people hated on him, and I still think he's a really good guy, but he still has yet to prove he is a top QB in the league. Give me Jay Cutler over him any day. Cutler will end the year as the third best QB after the two obvious ones. |

Question to my fellow bettors: Have you ever bet a football or basketball game where you bet the first half?....I'm gonna guess that the answer is yes.
Follow-up question to my fellow bettors: Have you ever bet a baseball game for the "first half?"...I'm gonna guess no.
There is this "macho thing" in gambling where big men with hairy chests can bet halftime in football and basketball; but if you bet halftime in baseball....you're (fill in your own typecast here).
ELIMINATE THE BULLPENS....ELIMINATE THE MANAGERIAL MOVES...ESPECIALLY IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE....
When you start to handicap a baseball game, you look at the starting pitchers and the oppposing lineups...right?..Of course.
WHY NOT START AND STOP YOUR CAPPING RIGHT THERE!
When you go to the bar and buy yourself an adult beverage, does the bartender ask you if you made that money by betting fullgame or halfgame?......don't think so....
Be smart....be really smart....eliminate all the crap that starts with inning #6.........Come over to the "dark side" and join the growing cult of bettors who ONLY play 5 inning bets....
End of soapbox....off to Happy Hour...
PS>>>>Check my thread, I had LAD & Billingsly for 5...... For every example people use saying you could have won betting 5 innings there's another example saying you would have lost betting 5 innings. |

A lot of managers are idiots, but Torre is one of the best.
In my opinion is was the right move to pull Billingsley and put Broxton in. I was on the Dodgers today too, so I'm in the same situation as most of you. I still think it was the right move though. Broxton is one of their best relievers, and to the idiot saying Broxton and Saito have been struggling, what are you talking about? Broxton hadn't allowed a run in his last six appearances and Saito has been money all season minus the Cubs outing where he didn't have his control. Sometimes managers make the right decision and it doesn't work out. This was one of those times. |
