I've been waiting all week for the line to dip below 3, saw it this morning and grabbed it! Neither team has played anyone to brag about, but both have looked impressive. I'll take Weeden and Hunter over Von Miller, Gundy over Sherman, and T. Boone Pickens Stadium over the handful of A&M fans that can make the trip on a Thursday night. Hell, A&M's band didn't even make the trip.....

I jumped on Oklahoma State large at -11, now I'm hoping to buy back half of it at Troy + whatever at game time for a great middle opportunity!
When you cap your own games, and come up with your own lines, sometimes you see opening numbers that are too good to pass up! I also got E. Carolina at 11.5......had it capped at 18 |

Does anyone have any insight as to how Hawaii will respond to playing at 6am local time? I checked their homepage and they left today for a 13 day road trip starting at Army, with a week layover in Vegas before going to Boulder to face Colorado in week 3.
Can athletes overcome the extreme time change in such a short amount of time? Will they be overlooking the Army game with a week in Vegas ahead of them? I can't imagine getting up at 4am to start pregame rituals for a 6am kickoff..... |

I wouldn't be too concerned with O State's Defense. While they are replacing 7 starters from last years much improved D(ranked 31st, if I remember correctly), numerous reports from camp this fall say that there will be little drop off, with this being the fastest Defense ever to line up for the Cowboys. Throw in the fact that they return Orie Lemon, 2008 Defensive MVP, and this unit will be as solid as last years by mid-season.
On offense, they are obviously replacing some big names, Zac Robinson, Dez Bryant, and Russell Okung to name a few. While they will be missed dearly, Kendall Hunter returns to form after an injury kept him hobbled most of last season. He was the Big 12 RB of the year in 2008, and his speed and agility will be a huge bonus for OC Holgerson's new spread attack. Brandon Weeden is no rookie as the 26 year old spent 6 years playing Minor League Baseball. His maturity and big time arm also have Holgorson smiling. The biggest concern I have right now are at the Recieiver position. Hubert Anyiam and Justin Blackmon are the leading receivers from last year, but they will be pushed by soph Tracy Moore who is poised to have a breakout year after dropping over 20 pounds to regain his speed and quickness. I'm making the Pokes a 2 unit play as I see them shaking off the jitters in the second half and winning by 21+ for an easy cover. |

That was one of the most informative and entertaining posts I've read
this season!
Thanks Maine! I'll look for your posts every week. Nice card, by the way, on several of those myself....seeing your take on them strengthens my confidence. Thanks again! |

I own a liquor store in Oklahoma and it's selling around here like crazy! I refuse to carry it in my store because people were coming in and spending $2 instead of $6 on a pint of something. That stuff is evil!

Love Neb, OK, and USC in week one, I agree with everything you said.
Like Pitt but the 'Stach has screwed me out of more money than the IRS the last few years..... |

I would go ahead and add nc1capper to that list, as I have been following his posts for awhile now....I also read Wahoo, Koaj, Bibendi, BoomBoom, Whodey, and a couple of others every week for their insight.....
By the way, thanks guys for all your hard work......but like they say, "If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life!" Good luck to all this season! |

I really like So Miss, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet because of the inexperience at OL. With only one returning starter, do you think they will protect Davis long enough to get the ball into the hands of his playmakers? I love their Defense, they should definitely keep them in the game, I just need some reassurance in the OLine.......can you sell me on it?
I'd like to think that Fedora, in his 3rd year, will have plenty of talent from his own recruits to offset any drop-off up front. I can't stand So Carolina and Spurrier, so it the Golden Eagles or nothing in this game for me. Thanks for your insight JD!

Ok State is a solid play at anything less than -17....Yes, they lost 9 starters on D, but they have their best Defensive player from '08 back in Orie Lemon. The DC says that this years D is the fastest in Team History and he actually expects the D to IMPROVE this season.....Yesterday's scrimmage saw 10 different recievers make catches in Dana Holgerson's new Spread Attack......WSU will be outclassed on both sides of the ball in Stillwater!

Wow, where did you get Oklahoma -28? I would LOVE to get that line, I've got -32, which I still think will be an easy cover.....

I would ALMOST guarantee that 3 out of the 5 you listed will cover, really think it will be more like 4 of 5.

The level of recruits Ok State has brought in the last few years won't allow the Cowboys to fall too far.......two touchdowns shouldn't be too hard to cover here.

There's no reason to be too scared of the chalk the first couple of weeks of the season (***except last year***).
Most of the powerhouse programs schedule home games against vastly inferior opponents in non-conference play. Expect a couple of big faves to fail to cover the number, but the majority will roll. Good luck this season! |

Wish I would have listened to you on the OU/Nebraska game....oh well!
I like Nebraska to lose straight up at Kansas this week...
Good Luck this week! |
