I actually use a service for MLB Dogs - but I also play some of my own MLB picks.  For my own picks, I use a sweep system here and there.

I suggest focusing primarily on underdogs - those who focus on the favorites (especially heavy favorites) have a hard time making a profit in the long run.

I won big last NBA season by using the following guidelines:

1 - NBA underdog plays from BaseballFormula.com

2 - Player statistics from Covers.com and Basketball Reference.com.   If a key starting player has been cold in recent games (shooting pct.), I am careful laying cash on that team.

3 - Daily injury reports from Covers.com

4 - Waiting until each team played 15-20 games before starting to lay cash…it takes discipline, but it’s worth it.  In years past, I got burned jumping in too early.  Give it time for the statistics to populate.

5 - Parlaying 2 hot underdogs.  This can rake in serious cash over the course of a season.  Check the Covers.com stats to see which dogs have been hot lately.

6 - I never play dogs with a line over +10 ATS on the moneyline.

7 - I avoid teams that have lost several games (usually 5+) in a row that are dogs.  NBA teams can be very streaky (hello Philadelphia 76ers).

Can't see Marquette beating Syracuse.  Riding the Orange again this weekend for easy cash.

2 - Jeff Sagarin Pitcher Ratings from USAToday.com.  If an opposing starting pitcher is in the top 10 in the NL or AL, I tread lightly. 

3 - Parlaying 2 hot underdogs.  If one team is +180 or above, I will use the +1.5 runline at times. 

4 - I never play favs over -170. 

5 - Only play starting pitchers in the #5 pitching rotation slot selectively when playing dogs.

This season, the bookies will pay!   Go doggies!
