Good to see you off that Michigan play. I think 14 is way too many. I think some people think Denard is going to be Denard regardless of what offense they run, but lets be honest here. His spring game was unimpressive, and I have this feeling that its going to take several weeks of game situation to get a feel for this new offense.
To make matters worse, Michigan's defense is fragile and vulnerable. Last year they gave up 37 to UMass, 21 to Bowling Green, and 35 to Indiana. You know Western is pumped for this game and is going to give Michigan their best shot. I'm already on Western at +14 and might take a shot at the ML if I can get +450. Good luck either way. |

Adding...
LSU +4.5 and Under 55 I see this game as a field goal either way with both teams scoring in the low 20s |

At first I liked Syracuse, but after taking a look at last year's home results, I decided to stay away.
Not counting 1AA opponents, they got outscored 47 to 112 at home and lost every game in terrible fashion. It doesn't seem like the Carrier Dome strikes any fear in opponents. I'm not saying 'Cuse won't cover, but if Wake is on the up swing, this game could be closer than people think. It's Wake Forest or no play for me. |

I've been using Betmaker since Matchbook left a couple of months ago. I'm pissed I can't get on to make a bet, but I'm just going to be patient and see what happens. I doubt our money is gone.

You cannot accomplish those three things as an American bettor (unless you set up an offshore presence). In fact, you cant accomplish ANY ONE of those. Up until 2006 we had ALL of those. So this post is not telling anyone that there wont be a sportsbook somewhere that is always willing to take a deposit and allow you to bet, or find a track to bet at, or a local. This post is saying that if you relied on the 3 things listed above in your method - you are screwed. If you choose to keep money at Greek or BM, or any other SB that accepts Americans, you are PAYING A FEE FOR RISK. Risk is higher than ever, and if you are willing to accept that risk, there is a cost to it. Im not telling you not to do it (as I have been asked several times in this thread "should I take my money out") - I am simply telling you that you have to evaluate your risk tolerance - because pretending that there is no risk is silly. You cant compete across sportsbooks for lines, you cant assure getting the lowest line available because you only have a couple of options, you cant move money freely and there is a cost and a risk cost to doing so that has never been higher - throw those things together and you have a recipe for non-profitabliity. I cant see how you can beat that longterm. Can you go set yourself up in a foreign country with banking, address, and have sportsbooks like Pinnacle, Betfair, Matchbook etc and insulate yoursel? Yes. Does the average person want or have the means to do that? No. From my point of view (opinion) - I dont know how anyone can make money doing this betting in to -110 lines, with very little competitiion for diversity of spreads, no exchange marketplace, no way to move money freely, and added risk cost. It seems impossible to me. The threshold is just way too high, out of the range of mortal handicappers to win longterm. So make your own decisions. Keep your eyes and ears open. I wouldnt be surprised if these SB's were shut down tomorrow, and I wouldnt be surprised if they were open in 10 years. The US govt might not be too interested in them because sportsbetting is not going to be legalized anytime soon - and this was just a Hiroshima move to clear the way for the rebuilding contract to be issued to the corporate casinos - who now have a clean slate. But none of this matters to the guy who is trying to be profitable, and finds that the landscape is like trying to play ice hockey on a frozen waterfall. I dont know much about the inner workings of SB's. I do know that they are not run by rocket scientists and beacons of legitimate business. I also know that poker sites and SB's share processors, and processor techniques. I think the biggest protection SB's have is that the DOJ might deem them just too small to even matter right now, and that they dont fit the profile of what their objective is - which I feel is to clear the way for corporate legalization. But dont you think the DOJ has experimented with sending the same WU's you do? Dont you think they know that Michael Jackson Gonzalez is not a real person living in the Philippines and that the SB's have set up a network of WU processors who give out dummy names? Dont you think they could and would squash this if they wanted to and felt the time was right? Once again, you the sender are in no danger - but the risk here is simply knowing that there are lots of Jamie Moyer fastballs sitting belt high waiting for the DOJ to hit out of the park when they want to. This is my opinion, I have nothing concrete to back this up other than my own observations - but I think you have to be in serious denial to assume that if the DOJ wanted to that they couldnt unravel this ball of yarn anytime they wanted to.
These exact thoughts have been rattling around my head since Matchbook walked away in February |

I'm one of many who used matchbook for years and are pissed they left the US market. But I'm hoping that Betmaker can fill the void. I'm trying to understand Betmaker's commission structure. They advertise 2% for sports bets, but then they get into a market rate and discount rate. I can see that the commission structure favors bigger bettors, but I'd like to get some discussion going about their commission to educate bettors who might be looking for an alternative to matchbook. |

Dont make excuses for your loss. Learn from it... Your bet was destined for failure from the start, thus the reason USF not only covered the spread but won the game. Easy champ. I wasn't crying about the loss. It's just one game, but I wouldn't call any defense 'stellar' if they give up 30 points and 590 yards. I was just pointing out the fact that Cincy was penalized 12 times for 115 yards. Its hard to win games when that happens. |

I just got home from work, and wasn't able to watch any of this game. I was on Cincy, and I just finished reading the game summary. Everything makes sense except the final score. It looks like Cincy was penalized early and often, and this was just a weird outcome.

That slow-pay report highlighted 3 new payment complaints. In this latest instance of slow-pay, a player writes to SBR that he requested a payout of $1,000 on March 22nd. wsex gave its usual generic replies pinning the blame on processor changes, and allegedly asks the player to call back in a week for an updated time-frame. wsex has been unable to efficiently shave down its number of payout complaints, accumulating more slow-pay complaints than there are payment reports 47 players have written to SBR for dispute assistance with wsex. Those players are owed a combined $250,617 with the earliest payment request made in October of 2009. As of July 3rd, wsex has been lowered to the mark of D. I saw this same thing on sports book review. That's a real shame because I thought WSEX used to be a reputable book and we're at least trying to get their act together. They'll have to pull a complete 180 for me to even think about opening an account there. |

I've thought about setting up an account there just as another option to line shop. I don't really know much about them, but I think they're affiliated with Bookmaker. I could be wrong. Also, it looks like their deposit/withdrawl costs are higher than average. Does anybody have a any first hand experience with Diamond they would care to share?

17 is all highway, but its not like 95. There are a few stoplights along the way, and the speed limit is 60mph at the most. Also, driving through Myrtle Beach is an absolute nightmare. Its stoplight after stoplight for like 20 miles. Myrtle Beach to Seabrook will take you about 3 hours because Seabrook/Kiawah is still another 45-50 mins from downtown Charleston. But its a great spot vacation. |

I live in Charleston. Its a great city, but flying in and out can be expensive and a big hassle b/c of the lack of direct flights. You can always try flying into Myrtle Beach, but you still have to drive at least two hours to get to Charleston. What brings you to Charleston? Wedding, beach, golf? |
