Does anyone else do these? and are you having trouble with their grading system? They are inconsistent in accuracy. They tend to grade winners are losers. Twice this week I've complained. I get replies. And nothing is overturned despite the evidence. I use yahoo finance as they use that to grade their bets. |

Probably around 5% or less who try to do this for a living succeed long term, and all of that 5% at one point or another busted their bankroll several times over before they got it right. Even if you get it right, it's hard to stay on track.
The biggest enemy isn't the sportsbook, nor the difficulty of picking more winners than losers, the biggest enemy is yourself. The fear, emotion, and anger that comes with the daily grind will eat you alive if you can't control yourself. You can be talented at picking winners just like Josh Hamilton is as talented at baseball, but if you have a vice you can't control, you will destroy yourself. You have to be better than smart. Most of the people who can succeed at this, probably would succeed at anything they try to do. Most of the people here are advising you not to do it, don't take it as negative, they are trying to do you a favor. Its starts and ends with money management. Start with the maximum you can afford to lose that won't affect your daily living nor affect you psychologically but enough money to keep you honest. If you can only afford $10 bets so be it. If you can't afford to lose anything DO NOT BET. You can still handicap and learn for free. Scared money doesn't win. Secure your finances first and you'll sleep better at night when the losing streaks hit. Good luck! |

just a rant about all these "expert picks" and paysites you see everywhere

I only play guaranteed winners. If you win they charge you, if you lose they don't. I like a few of the cappers here, and use their plays in conjuction with mine. If you stick to the Game of the Year plays you'll do fine. Don't let unit rating fool you. Most of the cappers here rate plays between 5-10 units. I am always weary of the guys that seem to have lots of 10 unit plays. I've been tracking covers experts for a few years now. You need to remember that you need to give each capper a full season in each sport to get a more realistic evaluation of how good they are. Guaranteed plays are anywhere from $40 to $65 for some of the game of years. IMO at that price, you need to be betting $300 a game to make it worth your while. |

i've been in your situation several times before. Do yourself a favor and stop. my bookie was over/under 1k. And i always paid him off when I lost but eventually got in over my head for 5K.
I tried to conceal it from family and friends but they were my only outs as I maxed out my credit cards and couldn't qualify for loans. You think your loved ones will hate you and they will for a time being, but if you come clean, they are more likely to help. I had to ask my dad, and i cried asking him as i couldn't control myself, he helped me out and he was glad I turned to him. It was the most humiliating point in my life because I knew it hurt him more than it did me. I didn't want him to think he raised a degenerate gambler. I would never forgive myself for that. If you really don't have anyone to help you or you don't want to tell them, then you have to be honest with your bookie. Hiding from him makes it worst, trust me, I know. He won't beat you up for $2k not worth it. Ask for a payment plan, and work extra hours if you have to. There is no shame in working a $10/hr a job if that's all you qualify for. If you can't afford to lose $100 bucks comfortably, you shouldn't bet at all PERIOD!!! Quit all together, or do it just for fun, and if you want to make money at it, make serious money management plans. If you can't quit at all, then ask for a smaller credit line. If the bookie cuts you off, consider it a favor. You are young, let this be a lesson. You have a full life ahead of you and if you handle this correctly, it will be just a small bump in the road and hopefully you can turn this experience into something positive. I started betting at 25, went completely broke because of it by the time i was 28. I lost my job and was depressed and miserable. I've since rebounded, the hardest thing I've done in my life, still paying off debts and will take me some years to do so, and I'm a winning bettor now for the past two years cuz I was disciplined with money management, have a conservative betting plan, and very patient. My goal is to make a living at the very thing that ruined me between the ages of 25-30. I don't cash from my bankroll, I grow it. I work 50 hours a week and that pays for everything. When my bankroll gets to where I want it to be, have all my debts paid, have two years salary in the bank, then id consider handicapping as my job. But even then I could have a bad year the rest of the year. Can never be too careful. Sorry to be longwinded, but I want to to see my point. it starts with losing 2k, then u win 3K, lose 1K, win 1.5K, then lose 2k, 2k, 3k, and next thing u know you are broke. Stop this now before it gets out of hand, if it hasn't already. Good luck! |

Most games are NOT RIGGED. We just remember the ones that are. There are too many people that need to be on a fix to make it work. There are too many people that need to keep secrets. Sure some slips through the cracks like point shaving scandals in college bb, but college kids are broke and easier to influence them.
Sure refs are known to blow calls on purpose, but that's the exception and not the norm. Pros in all sports makes millions of dollars, they have no incentive to "cheat." Its not worth their career. While some of you are gonna point out specific instances where a fix was in, no one points how many times a fix was not in. I guarantee you that 99% or more of all games in pro and college sports are not rigged. Why? look at steroids and baseball. I know sports organizations don't want Senate hearings as to whether or not sports are rigged. People are less likely to bet if it is known for sure that say 25% of games are rigged. Vegas doesn't want that pay cut and neither do the sports organizations. The books don't need to fix games. They always win anyways. They have juice in their favor in every game, parlays and teasers to hang yourself, and know most gamblers use poor judgement, tilt, and bet with money they can't afford to lose. Logically speaking, if the books are laying traps, they'll try to trap the sharps. They don't need to trap the square as they know squares lose eventually. |

My guess is that it'll get pushed back till after the November elections. Im sure Frank will try to postpone this again. Banks don't wanna deal with this as it will cost them resources to implement this. Plus they have enough on their plates with Wall St. reforms.
Even if something were to pass against us, the sportsbooks will find other ways to transfer money to and fro. |

Great Job. Muster up $12,500 and hedge your position at a casino. Going for it all or for the guarantee?

Can someone shed some light on the "avoid the sweep" angle? Weeble has mentioned the same thing. I understand the concept but would think if a team has your number or you are in a slump, well, a team has your number or you're in a slump. Shouldn't plays be based on pitchers and bats + bull penn, and not what happneed the previous two days with different pitchers? I am just curious as to your opinions. Thanks in advance. You can't follow anti-sweep angle blindly. While trends may suggest this play wins more than it loses, remember the John Morrison system which relies on teams to get swept. The morrison system could pop up as many as 50 or so times a year, which means 50 teams got swept. Individual instances like you mentioned matter. Don't make blind bets because "this team won't get swept at home" and the like. Good luck. |

ive been working on a strategy for sometime, not a finished product. Currently still tracking on when to fade and when to bet. Tracking the top 4 at this time of the month, till the end of the month will be inconsistent. If you look at past history, 23 wins a month is a lofty number isn't always reached. I think 25 wins is the most.
Send me a pm if interested and add me as a friend. I am looking for people willing to do research with me on this and can share with you what i've found. Like you, ive noticed the top 50 and more do well, so at what point do you tail? whom do you tail? how did they do after the 1st 10 days of the month, 1st 15? I've been trying to figure this out for awhile. How do u know when to back off a guy or even fade them? lemme know, and good luck! |

What about setting the line at just 1? for example, if u are to lose . . .
1 1-1 1-1-2 1-1-2-3 you keep your wager amount down and Id even recommend use .5% unit as a base. I've used labouchere with success before, but in moderation. As with most chase systems, the inevitable horrible run occurs. |

Considering purchasing the picks from JM's "Sports Picks Buffet." Anyone use this? Results?

NBA this year after Houston lost the filter was added to wager the ML on any favorite of more than 3+ points rather than buy the points. this is insane.the amount of $$$ you have to put up. His systems work but are very contravercial. According to JM's emails he always gets the best lines where others cannot. It results in everyone else losing but JM winning. People will argue certain lines were never available. I've been following for 3 years now and there have been many contraversy's.
Best of Luck The WNBA was supposedly flawless for 10 years but lost the last game of the season last year.which wiped out the whole season's profits. While JM systems have had their successes, i agree with puppet that morrison finds a new filter to scratch losses. I paid his system way back when (before i ever entered covers and found it for free) and he always sends me emails about buying version 2.0 and 3.0 and "sports pick buffets" and such. He is a tout, no doubt. As for any chase system out there, its very stressful to go through. i like to not bet the 1st two games of chase series. I like to flat bet the 3rd game of a 3bet series, and game 3 and 4 of a four bet chase series. You avoid the stress of losing first two games, have a higher win% and eat less juice when you lose. You won't have very many plays, just have to be patient and you'll make money in the long run. |
