I don't see CHI winning tonight. If you check the players' lifetime stats vs Lester...CLV hits .300 CLV also leads the AL in SBs...so when they get on, it go time. Given that Lester can't throw to first...it could get ugly. I am betting CLV -1.5 and -2.5. Also, given that Lester is starting 2+ games, I am betting CLV for the series. btw...CHI players have hit under .100 vs Kluber. |

bb..yep this stinks. For those that don't know..below is an excerpt of the e-mail sent to customers. Alas, I have been a big fan of Phenoms, over the last 3-4 years, and was looking forward to their "nfl playoff fantasy leagues". If anyone knows of a site that has this type of league...for during the nfl playoffs..please pass it along.

Congrats on the Ole Miss/A&M Side and Total. I look to you for Ole Miss, but will stick with jimmydafreak for ALA. It is nice to read/follow guys that know their stuff. Thx. |

I was just rejected by Western Union, from sending $$$ to 5Dimes...so maybe something is going down. No explanation given. |

Western Union is the way to go.
You can do it all online, by setting up an account with WUnion. Takes two minutes to get the "name" from 5Dimes. Takes two minutes to get the confirmation # from WUnion. Takes one minute to input confirmation # into 5Dimes. Wait five minutes for 5Dimes to credit account. Simple...All done in 10 minutes. Last time I did it (3 months ago), no human interaction at all, as 5Dimes has automated the process. |

Since I am in a bunch of leagues, I pay for "Fantistics" draft software.
In addition to the software, they give daily player info, like rotoworld. If you are in more than one league, I highly recommend some type of software. It makes research/drafting a snap. Good Luck. |

www.phenomsff.com/ I have used them for the past two years. No complaints and I find the payout percentage is good. One caveat...if you do a "semi-slow" draft, it will be SLOW. I am in one now that is averaging 2 rounds a day, and we have 30 rounds overall. They mostly do "mixed" leagues, but I see: (1) AL only league (2) NL only leagues Good Luck |

Correction:
Play is HOU+4 over MIA (1st half) |

My top pick is HOU +7.5 over MIA (1st half)
I don't have the stats, but I watch most of the MIA games. They are a team that doesn't want to work, especially on defense. They often fall behind in the 1st Half...and then summon the will to win in the 2nd half. Maybe when the playoffs come, MIA will play a full game, but until then...bet against them in the 1st Half. Anyone have the stats to support or go against my play? |

This is so wrong. I don't even smoke, but this just fuels my "hate" for politicians.
All because Phillip Morris buys a politician, the "common man" can't get a break. Sounds like several hundred jobs nationwide going bye-bye. Cig Machines Snuffed Out This reminds me of online poker and the government crackdown. Just more senseless government intrusion. |

When looking at pay leagues online...be sure to do the math!
What I mean is...look at the % being paid out by the site. When I first looked for an online league (Football/Baseball), I was put off by the low payout %. I remember seeing 67% at a big-name site. Anyway, I have settled in at Phenomsff_com. I played football there last year and received prize money...promptly. (day after the season, via paypal) This will be my first year of baseball, so will see how it goes. Bottom line is that their payouts seem the best. $50 league...80% payout $100 league...85% payout $200 league...90% payout Another thing I like is that phenomsff's prizes are strictly cash. Many sites give prizes, such as trophies or subscriptions...which makes it hard to understand what % they are paying out. So based on my experience with phenoms' football leagues, I would advise anyone to give them a look. Anyone else find sites with 80%+ payouts, let us know. |

Can anyone out there explain to me the idiots guide to gold and silver?
in General Discussion
Anyone interested in Silver/Gold should look at the "Investments" forum.
There are several threads on the topic. Here is one... Silver |

Jim Rogers: "Silver Going To Go Much, Much Higher"
Found the following quote interesting... As for whether he prefers miners to the metal directly, Rogers said that he generally invests directly in commodities rather than buying producers since he is not prepared to pick the winners and losers amongst the group. “If you pick the right miner you’ll make a lot more money than you will in the metal,” Rogers explains. Though, by exposing yourself to management risks and the regional risk of the mines, among other factors, you can potentially not participate in the strong fundamentals of the commodity market and could lose all your capital. For example, ‘natural gas tripled and yet Enron, a producer of natural gas went to 0. Natural gas can down but it cannot go to zero.’ |

Broncofn:
There are several other threads on silver/gold. I suggest you look them over. I am of the thought that gold/silver/commodities are the best bets right now...for a good portion of your investment funds. The thing to watch is the government's monetary policy. As long as they continue to inflate the debt, by printing money...commodities will continue to do well. The doomsday scenario could occur at anytime. Anything that spikes interest rates, would make the debt explode and lead commodities to spike 2-3 fold. That is when you sell commodities to lock in some profits. For those looking for more information, I would suggest: siliconinvestor.com, fool.com & seekingalpha.com These are all discussion boards focused on stocks & investments. Look for gold/silver/commodity boards and figure out who you believe. Below are my comments from another thread. If you don't have any exposure to Silver/Gold stocks, you should start there. You get more bang for your buck, as while silver has gone up 100% this year, many silver stocks are up 400%. In an up market for commodities, it is like shooting fish in a barrel. GPL, NGD and CPFXF.pk are mineral stocks I like, even with their big run ups. As for owning physical gold/silver, I would suggest you consider buying some junk silver. Easy to buy on E-bay at spot prices. Be sure to look at the seller's history though. I am currently buying junk silver (old quarters, dimes, etc..), thinking that they will be easy to use in barter, should it be necessary. |

Like "be easy", I favor silver, as it seems to be in short supply and unlike gold, has many commercial uses. Best of luck. |

Something I have started doing. Not going out of my way to find them, just not throwing my change back into circulation.
Per the following site: Pre-1982 Pennies are worth 2.9 cents. Any Nickel is worth 7.1 cents. Melt Value This site also has a metal value calculator for any US coin. Metal Calculator Crazy to think that any pre-1965 dime is worth $2.50. any pre-1965 quarter is worth $6.10. |
