I would like to chime in. I am a Steelers fan and I have been saying all year that the Steelers biggest problem was getting that drive back to win another Super Bowl. This was basically the same team from last year yet, they didn't come close to dominating like they did the year before when they went on their end of year run. My contention is that they had achieved their goal and it became hard to re-establish that same goal because their hunger had been satiated. I do believe that the difference between good and great in pro football hinges on mental preparation and mental hunger (if that is even a proper term). You get your ass beat enough and you will find a way to eventually beat their ass.  An analogy I can site is that my nephew is a national caliber wrestler. He has won some national tournaments and our goal is to continue wrestling him against the best competition. If he can't beat someone now, we continue to wrestle him and eventually he finds a way to beat him. Dungy & Manning have wrestled Bellichek & Brady enough to now know how to pin their asses. This is the Colts biggest game in decades & I don't think they fail in their attempt to beat the Patriots.

If the Patriots have proved one thing, over and over and over and over again,

is that the ONLY two guys they cannot do without, is Brady and Belichek.

 

Last time I looked they were planning on participating Sunday.

 

I cannot believe the level of disrespect you are giving NE a team with ONE LOSS

in thirteen post season games or the amount of

respect you are giving the Colts, a team that has SIX losses in eleven playoff games.

 

If the Colts had at least won a big game ONCE, than their 5-6 playoff record could somewhat

be discounted but they have not so it can't.

 

One of the things I have learned over the years when betting horses is

that you never ask a horse to do something he has never done before,

distance, two turns, stepping up in class etc...

 

While men are men and horses are horses, this rule is also

applicable in sports betting.

 

You are asking the Colts to win a championship game

(something they have never done with Manning)

asking the Pats to lose a championship game 

(something they have never done with Brady)

 

It could happen but not sound logic says it won't

Tom, if you think I regard the Patriots as has beens, far from it, but unfortunately for them, they're in a very tough spot this time.  They can't win this game.  The Colts have unexpectedly lucked into playing for the AFC title at home.  It's about time they got lucky and found themselves in an optimal playoff situation, rather than the usual horrible situations from the past, such as playing in Foxboro, twice, in wintery conditions against much better Patriots teams than this one.

I respect the Patriots as much as I feel they deserve to be respected.   I almost bet against them in the Wild Card game, but backed off.  I did bet them last week.  But that's as far as it goes for me.  Now they're screwed.

winning and whether the Pats win or not, past history (and RECENT

past history, like last week) says they have closer to a 50% of of

winning not 5%.

 

P.S. The line of the Colts -3 also says the same thing.

TomCurtisNY        A couple of weeks ago the Dallas/Seattle game was an all time low for

                                 pro football viewing. Dallas had 326 yds total rushing to Seattle's 235.

                                  Seattle playing terrible wins the game as you know and the next week plays

                                  Chicago down to overtime. Rex threw the ball better than usual but this is because

                                  Seattle is playing so poor. I really think Chicago peaked probably a month or

                                  two ago when Tommie Harris and Mike Brown were healthy. Bush , Mcalister

                                  Drew  Brees and Sean Payton will have an easier time with Chicago than they had

                                    with Philly. I know the Saints have little playoff experience, but I'm happy that the game is

                                  Chicago and I like the fact that the Saints are the Dog. This isn't quite like Boise St.

in taking the small play on Balt ML.  Are you saying that you thought Balt had a better chance than N.E. does?  You could have just made the small Balt ML play for some action,  but if you liked Balt to beat Indy SU than what makes you like Indy so much this week (100,000) against a N.E. team that is far and away a better team (QB and coaching maybe not Defense) than Balt?  Or does the homefield advantage of Indy and the magnitude of this game play more into your decision than I can tell?

 

 

 

well mr.bator's  answer to what i meant by scrappy is exactly what i meant by it. the few guys left make them scrappy not dominate now.  They were dominate back then.

 

as for mannings Qb rating he was on the road and had a bad game, but baltimores defense is arguably the best in the league. actaully ratings wise they are the best in the league.

 

hell baltimore lead the league in interceptions and was 1 sack behind SD that defense can shut down any quarterback.
