The linesmakers want 1/2 on one side and 1/2 the people on the other. That's all they want. And the locals never want 75-90% of his clients on one side. They always want it 50/50. They dont come out with the Bills -1 begging for Bills money. They come out with a line what they think will split the public. They want half on one side, and half on the other.
wrong. my local, who is a very good friend of mine doesnt give 2 shits if everybody is on one side. he wins in the long run. he knows he will. he makes more money letting it ride than he does selling off half his bets. he can have a losing day, week, month or year. but over time hes better off taking all bets.
btw, wagerline numbers arent lies. its more a poll than anything.
linesmakers are paid to make money. if they lose money they get fired quick. not like us. theres no linemaker union to save their job. and seriously you dont get even money on both sides setting the bills at -1.
but on the other hand its not so easy to figure out linesmakers as to bet against the public. remember they only have to be on the right side of half of the lopsided games to make money. especially when its the big ones. look at mnf, thursday night in ncaaf, how many times have you heard chris berman say so we're all on the so and so's. not a big deal when ball st beats chattahootchie u by 50 and covers easily. when the usc's stomp a hole in the oregon st's on thursday night its a lil different. somebodys updatin thier resume.

Have been doing very well using the 80 / 20 fade...Hit 4 out of 5 today in college...Kent State, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, and Indiana...Lost Kansas State, and if they could have punched it in from inside the 3 yard line at the end of game, they would have had a backdoor cover....

Totally agree with collegegambler, preppy makes some good points about the unregulated sportsbooks figures. But still the betting numbers are there and do not lie. Red Flags post are so true about the point spread moving , what a great thread.

think about this, if you could bet both sides of a game at +110 how much money would you put on each side? the correct answer is you would bet everything you have split right down the middle on each side and be heading to the bank to cash the 10% win before the game even started because its guaranteed. The house wants guaranteed money. 50/50 action guarantees a house win. Thats what they want...they dont try to out cap you they just take past public opinon and use stats to come up with a number that they think will get 50/50 action-----split the money down the middle and win. Its simple.
