Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez has stepped up in a big way this season. The 30-year-old veteran is 7-4 with a 2.02 ERA across 115.2 innings in 21 starts during his first year in Atlanta.
Lopez is having a career year and he’s been pretty consistent as well. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 18 of his 21 starts, including seven outings of zero earned runs.
The righthander has already faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies twice this season and had strong results in both starts. He’s allowed just one run on seven hits while striking out 16 and walking four in 11 innings. That includes a 10-strikeout performance in five innings 10 days ago against Philadelphia.
The Phillies' offense has been rather quiet for a while now. They broke out for 11-run efforts on Saturday and Sunday in Kansas City, but have mustered just 10 runs in their last three games.
