The Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers have split the first two games of their three-game set, and the two National League pennant contenders will play the rubber match under the bright lights on Sunday Night Baseball.

My top Cubs vs. Dodgers predictions and MLB picks are calling for Los Angeles winning in commanding fashion with Tyler Glasnow showing off in a bounce-back start.

Cubs vs Dodgers prediction for Sunday Night Baseball

My Cubs vs Dodgers best bet: Dodgers -1.5 (-125 at Caesars)

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow was roughed up for five runs while walking five Philadelphia Phillies across just two innings during his past start, but I’m giving the 31-year-old righty a pass because it started to rain, and the Philly lineup packs punch.

Glasnow’s body of work carries way more weight than the single outing, and he tossed five scoreless with eight strikeouts in his season debut. He sports an MLB-low 2.76 xFIP and MLB-high 32.7 K% across his 45 starts dating back to the beginning of the 2023 season, after all.

Plus, amazingly, Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson is the only regular with plate appearances against Glasnow. The Chicago vet could slide into the lineup, but he’s still only faced Glasnow nine times, and he’s 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts.

Flipping to Chicago starter Colin Rea, he has maxed out at 40 pitches across three innings, and he only threw 23 pitches across two frames in his last appearance Monday, April 7. As a result, I’m anticipating this resembling a bullpen game for the Cubbies, with Rae unlikely to be stretched out enough to pitch much past the fourth or fifth frame.

It’s bad news, too, because Cubs relievers sport a 26th-ranked 4.61 xFIP.

Of course, Rae and the Chicago bullpen are also in tough against a power-packed Dodgers lineup. Los Angeles sports a fourth-ranked .354 wOBA and third-ranked .222 ISO against righties this year, and Caleb Thielbar is the only lefty in the bullpen. He threw 14 pitches in a scoreless eighth inning Saturday and might not be available.

Glasnow and the Dodgers lineup is too much for the Cubbies on Sunday Night Baseball.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Cubs vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)

Dodgers -1.5

Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 total bases

Michael Busch Over 0.5 hits

There haven’t been many starters to figure out how to quiet Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani, and Rea certainly isn’t one of them. Ohtani has gone 2-for-6 against Rea with a pair of home runs, and he raked against righties to the tune of a .462 wOBA and .387 ISO dating back to 2023.

Turning to the final leg of this same-game parlay, Cubs first baseman Michael Busch is rolling along a solid 8-for-22 stretch, and he sports a solid .254 batting average against right-handed pitchers dating back to last season. Busch should have at least four plate appearances Sunday night, and he’s been squaring it up with an impressive 50.0% hard-hit rate to start the season.
