The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to right the ship in the second game of their four-game set against the San Francisco Giants at Citizens Bank Park.

Philadelphia has lost four of its last five with just 10 runs scored in that span.

My Giants vs. Phillies picks are targeting Philadelphia’s starter to rack up the strikeouts in the best MLB picks on Tuesday, April 15.

Giants vs Phillies prediction

My Giants vs Phillies best bet: Jesus Luzardo Over 6.5 strikeouts (+120 at FanDuel)

The Philadelphia Phillies didn’t make too many additions in the offseason, but one of the most important was starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo. The southpaw has been impressive through three starts with his new club, showing his high strikeout upside thus far.

Luzardo has 25 strikeouts in 18 innings through three starts, with 11 against the Nationals, eight against the Dodgers, and six last time out against the Braves. Tonight's start against the San Francisco Giants presents another opportunity for Luzardo to flex his muscles.

The Giants are one of the most strikeout-prone teams in the league this season. They average the fourth-most Ks per game at 9.63, including 10.80 on the road. We saw that in the series opener last night as Taijuan Walker picked up five strikeouts in as many innings. More importantly, it was the left-handed reliever Tanner Banks who had four strikeouts in two innings of work.

The Giants are batting .225 as a team but that comes all the way down to .194 against left-handed pitchers. They've struck out 41 times in 148 plate appearances against southpaws for one of the highest rates in the league.

Luzardo may have missed this mark last time out, but look for him to get back on track and rack up the Ks at home against a team that struggles against southpaws.

Giants vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)

Jesus Luzardo 7+ strikeouts

Justin Verlander 5+ hits allowed

Phillies moneyline

Justin Verlander has had mixed results with the Giants through three starts. After allowing two runs through five innings to start the season, he's allowed nine runs (eight earned) in his last two starts (eight innings). He allowed at least five hits in all three starts and surrendered seven in his lone start against the Phillies last season.

The Phillies are cold right now, but this is a pitching matchup to take advantage of. Luzardo will outduel the aging Verlander to give the Phillies a much-needed win.
