The second half of the MLB season begins on Friday with the top players coming in fresh off the All-Star break. That means we have plenty of MLB player props to dig into after a brief hiatus.

My MLB picks for today include backing Yankees star slugger Juan Soto who came up big at the All-Star game. I'm also betting on Cardinals hurler Sonny Gray and fading Marlins righty Edward Cabrera with my three favorite player props for July 19.

MLB props for July 19

Today’s best MLB props

Prop bet #1: Juan Soto Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Juan Soto has been crushing the ball in his first season with the New York Yankees, slashing .295/.426/.558 through 94 games. He's tied for second in the majors in runs (75) while ranking eighth in RBI (66) and 18th in hits (101).

Soto was red-hot going into the break, slugging .727 in his last five games and he drove in two runs with a double during the All-Star Game. The four-time Silver Slugger winner will be in a great spot to keep rolling today at home against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Rays are sending Zach Eflin to the mound and he's struggled on the road, pitching to a 5.37 ERA with an OBA of .282 in 10 away starts. Soto has the platoon advantage in this matchup and he has a history of mashing against Eflin, going 14-31 in his career with a pair of homers and three doubles.

Juan Soto prop: Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI (-120 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #2: Edward Cabrera Over 1.5 earned runs

Edward Cabrera has been banged up with a shoulder injury this year and in the seven starts he has made, he's been awful, posting an 8.26 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP. Cabrera generates plenty of whiffs but he also gets hit hard, sitting in the bottom fifth percentile in barrel rate and hard-hit rate.

The 25-year-old righty has a challenge in front of him on Friday with the Miami Marlins facing a New York Mets lineup that has been red-hot at the dish. Over the last 30 days, the Mets are second in the majors in OPS (.812) while plating 5.70 runs per game. With Cabrera allowing 3+ earned runs in five of his last six starts, the Over 1.5 is the bet.

Edward Cabrera prop: Over 1.5 earned runs (-150 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #3: Sonny Gray Over 5.5 strikeouts

The St. Louis Cardinals are sending veteran righthander Sonny Gray to the mound for today's matchup against the Atlanta Braves. Through 17 starts, Gray is sixth in the majors with 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings and he ranks in the Top 10th percentile in strikeout rate (30.3%).

The Braves have plenty of big hitters in their lineup but they don't do a good job of making contact and rank 23rd in the majors in strikeout rate (23.9%). They've been even worse since losing reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. to a season-ending injury, batting just .227 with a strikeout rate of 25.7% over the last 30 days.

Gray has been a model of consistency, fanning at least six batters in 14 of his last 16 starts, which makes the Over 5.5 strikeouts for him today an easy play.

Sonny Gray prop: Over 5.5 strikeouts (-150 at FanDuel)
