A new week of Major League Baseball gets underway with a bit of a lighter schedule on the diamond as just seven games are on the board. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of baseball betting value to be found in the player prop market.

We've got our eyes set on a couple of pitchers to hold down the fort for their respective teams as well as Astros' Brantley to get the bat hot.

Find out more in our MLB player prop picks for Monday, April 25.

Berrios barrage

A pair of familiar foes will do battle when the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays open a four-game set at Rogers Centre on Monday night. The American League East rivals played a three-game series at Fenway Park with the Jays taking two of three from the BoSox. So, what will this new series have in store?

Well, Blue Jays’ starter Jose Berrios will get the opportunity to build on his last outing against the Red Sox, where he gave up just one run while striking out six.

Berrios struggled on Opening Day, lasting less than an inning against the Texas Rangers. However, the right hander has looked a little better in each start since and he’ll look to carry that momentum over into tonight's matchup.

The Red Sox offense has been a little underwhelming up to this point in this season, and while they are a solid ninth in strikeouts per game, they are an aggressive bunch. They lead the MLB in chase percentage and are second in first-pitch swing percentage, and Berrios has been able to take advantage of that aggression over his career.

While Berrios has had issues locating his fastball early, his breaking ball has been sharp and he can use it to keep the Boston batters honest. In fact, he has six or more strikeouts in six of his seven career starts against them, including his first two as a member of the Blue Jays. Bet on him to do it again tonight.

Pick: Jose Berrios Over 5.5 strikeouts (-104)

Bags for Brantley

The Houston Astros have had some problems with their hitting early on this season, but we may have seen some liftoff in their series finale against the Blue Jays. They totaled 10 hits in an 8-7 win in 10 innings, and will look to carry that momentum over into tonight’s opener against Dane Dunning and the Texas Rangers.

While Houston has had a problem hitting as a team, that hasn’t been the case for Michael Brantley. The Astros’ outfielder continues to be one of the most professional hitters in baseball, batting .316 with two home runs and 18 RBIs. He is also coming off a 2-for-4 performance which included a double and home run.

Brantley now has hits in six of his last seven outtings including four multi-hit games over that stretch and now gets a great matchup against Dunning.

The Rangers’ righty has really struggled out of the gates this season. Dunning has an expected ERA of 6.62 while opponents have a .318 expected batting average against him over his first three starts. His 2-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio could also use some improvement.

Dunning has also lasted five innings just once this season so that means another long night for an already overworked Texas bullpen that ranks 28th in ERA and 22nd in WHIP.

In a groove, Brantley is a solid value to go Over two hits tonight.

Pick: Michael Brantley Over 1.5 hits (+170)

Buehler dismantles D-Backs

Unlike his namesake, it is seemingly never a day off for Walker Buehler. The Dodgers starter is a contender for the National League Cy Young Award and while he has been solid so far, Buehler hasn’t been as sharp as he would like. He’ll look to put in a solid performance as the Dodgers host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.

Buehler is pitching to a 4.02 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP through his first three starts this season, which aren't Buehler-like numbers, particularly coming off a season where he pitched to a 2.47 ERA and limited opponents to a .199 batting average.

It seems like Buehler hasn’t had a feel for his fastball early on. He is finding too much of the plate and his velocity is down, leading to opponents having an expected batting average of .487 off of it so far. That will obviously adjust, and the matchup with the D-backs might get him back on track.

Arizona has one of the worst offenses in the majors at the moment. It has scored the second-fewest runs in the National League, plating just 3.1 per game. It also ranks next-to-last when it comes to facing right-handed pitching, hitting just .196 for the year.

On top of that, Buehler made three starts against the D-backs last season, pitching 20 1-3 innings, all lasting at least 6.0 while allowing just two earned runs on six hits and striking out 25. Additionally, he pitched six innings in 29 of his 33 starts last season. Tonight he looks like a good bet to do that for the first time in 2022.

Pick: Walker Buehler Over 17.5 outs recorded (-115)

It’s not an interesting story. Seriously.
