Rangers vs Mariners betting preview
Starting pitchers
Dane Dunning (0-0, 5.19 ERA): Dunning is coming off a performance against the Angels where he allowed two runs before getting the hook midway through the fourth inning. Dunning racked up seven strikeouts in that contest but also surrendered six hits and threw a whopping 86 pitches despite not even making it halfway through the game.
Logan Gilbert (1-0, 0.90 ERA): The 24-year-old has looked very impressive to start the year, holding opponents to a batting average of .184 and allowing just one run while fanning 11 batters through 10 innings. He was solid as a rookie last season pitching to a 4.68 EA with a 1.17 WHIP in 24 starts despite being overly reliant on his four-seamer.

Rangers vs Mariners picks and predictions
Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Moneyline analysis
The Rangers have lost four games in a row and are 2-8, despite ranking fourth in the majors in scoring with 5.22 runs per game. That said, they are bound to have some offensive regression when you consider that they are just 18th in OPS (.667) and 29th in Barrels per Plate Appearance (3.6%).
Sure, adding Marcus Semien and Corey Seager in the offseason improved an anemic lineup, but they still likely don't belong in the top half of the majors.
The Rangers' biggest problem is pitching, with Texas ranking dead-last in the bigs in ERA (6.65), OBA (.287), and opponent OPS (.897).
Dane Dunning takes the mound for Texas today and he's looked very shaky this season after pitching to a 4.51 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP in 25 starts last year. The Rangers also have a brutal bullpen that currently has the worst ERA in the majors.
The Mariners' offense has been unimpressive, sitting 13th in the majors in OPS (.689), but they've been throwing the ball very well which has helped them win four of their last five games.
Logan Gilbert will get the start today and he looks poised for a breakout campaign, as he rounds out his entire arsenal and gets better location on his electric fastball. Gilbert has looked sharp in his first two starts of the season and the M's bullpen has been even better.
Seattle's relievers were one of the team's strengths in 2021 and have been dominant so far this year, pitching to a collective 0.87 WHIP with an MLB-best OBA of .165.
With the Rangers just 2-17 in their last 19 games in Seattle, we'll back the home side with the better pitching.
Prediction: Mariners ML (-150 at bet365)
Over/Under analysis
T-Mobile Park is one of the most pitcher-friendly parks in the majors but the total of 7.5 seems a tad too low here, especially when you consider how terrible the Rangers' pitching has been.
In addition, the Mariners have actually been hitting the ball well at home, plating 24 runs in four contests despite getting shut out by Astros ace Justin Verlander on Saturday.
Dunning and the Rangers bullpen certainly aren't on Verlander's level and the M's have enough pop in their lineup to put up some runs.
With the Rangers lineup also overachieving so far this season, we'll take the Over here.
Prediction: Over 7.5 (-110 at Sports Interaction)
Best bet
In his first full season in the bigs last year, Rangers' first baseman Nathaniel Lowe put up some solid numbers slashing .264/.357/.415 with 18 dingers and 72 RBI. That said, while Lowe did an excellent job of hitting off-speed pitches, he had a tendency to struggle against fastballs.
Lowe was very vocal about working on that weakness during the offseason and it seems to be paying early dividends, with the 26-year-old currently boasting a .616 wOBA with a whiff rate of just 12.9% against four-seam pitches. That's good news for Texas fans tonight, with Seattle starting a guy who has thrown his fastball on more than 61% of his career pitches.
Lowe has been on fire this season, leading the club with a .359 batting average while picking up a hit in nine of 10 games. He has racked up at least a single in eight of those contests (including six in a row), and we like him to go Over 0.5 on his total singles tonight.
Pick: Nathaniel Lowe Over 0.5 singles (+105 at BetMGM)
