My analysis
Tarik Skubal has been absolutely brilliant in 2024, leading the American League with a 2.48 ERA, 17 wins, and 221 strikeouts in 185 innings.
The 27-year-old is one of the most electric starters in the sport and almost always strikes out at least one hitter per inning. When it comes to this specific bet, Skubal has hit the 7+ strikeouts mark in four of his last five appearances. Need more evidence? Skubal has only hit the Under in three of his last 16 outings.
Also, Skubal’s lone start against the Tampa Bay Rays this season was lights out, tossing six scoreless frames, allowing just three hits, and sitting down nine batters via the strikeout. The Rays also struggle to make contact at times, ranking Top-10 in the majors in team strikeouts.
The odds are short at -215, but Skubal has every chance at surpassing seven K’s on Tuesday afternoon. With the Detroit Tigers in the thick of the playoff race, his leash hasn't been shortened, frequently throwing 90+ pitches when he takes the mound, and he hasn't thrown fewer than 80 in any outing since May 17.
Expect the Tigers to lean on the lefty again today against a strikeout-prone Rays lineup to clear this alt strikeout line.

We’re looking at Riley Greene to record an RBI. The 23-year-old has driven in 72 runs and has recorded at least one RBI in four of his last seven games. Also, Greene is swinging it well against the Rays this year, slashing .308 with three RBI in as many games.
Lastly, the Under 6.5 runs. While only three of the last seven meetings hit the Under, we have two solid arms on the hill. Ryan Pepiot is one of Tampa’s best starters, compiling an 8-6 record and a 3.65 ERA. He also surrendered just one run in his lone appearance versus Detroit earlier in the campaign. Between Skubal's and Pepiot’s success against their respective opponents this afternoon, we expect a low-scoring affair in the series opener.
