The New York Yankees extended their impressive win streak to 10 games after taking the opener of their series against the Toronto Blue Jays last night.
Getting to 11 will be a tough task as Alek Manoah will be staring them down from the rubber in Game 2. The Jays enter this game with their own streak, having won 12 consecutive games Manoah has started.
Will Toronto end New York’s impressive run, or do the Yanks have value as a road underdog?

Yankees vs Blue Jays betting preview
Starting pitchers
Jameson Taillon (1-1, 3.26 ERA): Taillon pretty much comes as advertised. Solid, if unspectacular. The right-hander has pitched between 4 2-3 and 5 innings in all four of his starts, giving up two earned runs or fewer in each of those outings.
Alek Manoah (4-0, 1.44 ERA): Manoah has been one of the best pitchers in baseball through the first month of this 2022 campaign. The big right-hander has allowed just four runs on 14 hits while striking out 25 batters over his first four starts of the season.

Yankees vs Blue Jays picks and predictions
Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Moneyline analysis
It certainly looks like these two teams will battle for the American League East all season. The win last night gave the Yankees a 3-2 lead in the season series and a run differential of just +3.
Alek Manoah takes the ball for the Blue Jays. The 24-year-old right-hander has been outstanding this season. He has allowed just four runs on 14 hits while striking out 25 batters over his first four starts of the season. That equates to an expected ERA of 2.15, limiting opponents to an expected batting average of .197.
One of those starts came against the Yankees, where he held them scoreless over six innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven.
Opposing Manoah is Jameson Taillon. The opposite of flashy, Taillon usually puts in five solid innings of work, then hands the ball off to another excellent version of the Yankees’ bullpen that ranks second in ERA and is holding opponents to a .209 batting average.
The Jays have decent numbers against Taillon, but he only allowed two runs on five hits while striking out six in five innings when they met back at Yankee Stadium in early April.
It’s really hard to fade Manoah in this spot considering how he’s pitching and his success against the Yankees. I just worry about run support. The Jays continue to struggle to cash in runners, hitting .173 with runners in scoring position, ranking dead last in the MLB.
The value is with the underdog that has won 10 straight in what should be another close ball game.
Prediction: Yankees moneyline (+118 at FanDuel)
Over/Under analysis
While the value on the moneyline is with the Yankees, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Jays win because of Manoah, and that’s why the Under looks like the better of the plays.
Manoah always looks like he is always ready to bring when the lights are brightest and against the Jays’ biggest rivals. In fact, in three career starts against the Yankees, he pitched to a 1.53 ERA while striking out 18 in 17 2-3 innings of work.
On top of that, while the Yankees have been living up to the Bronx Bombers moniker, leading the MLB in home runs, just 10 of those have come outside of Yankee Stadium. They also rank 17th and 19th in batting average and OPS when playing on the road this season.
We’ve already brought up the Yankees' path to success. Five or so solid innings from Taillon then hand the ball to the stellar bullpen, going against a Jays team that has struggled to get that clutch hit.
Then there is the fact that these two simply play close games. They’ve played five times already this season, with the Under going 4-1, seeing a combined total of just five runs per game.
Bank on another low-scoring matchup in Toronto tonight.
Prediction: Under 7.5 (-110 at FanDuel)
Best bet
As I said, it’s hard to bet against the Jays when Manoah is on the mound, but my favorite bet tonight comes by backing the big right-hander even in a Toronto loss.
Even early on in his career, you can already tell Manoah is the ultimate competitor, a guy who always gets up for games against teams like the Yankees and Red Sox.
On top of having fantastic stuff, Manoah has become a reliable innings-eater for the Blue Jays as well. He has pitched at least six innings in all four starts this season, and nine times during the 12 straight wins the Jays have notched when he’s been on the bump. He’s pitched into the sixth in all 12 and never pitched fewer than 5 2-3 innings against the Yankees.
Bet on another big night from Manoah as he at the very least keeps his team in this one, and take the Over on his outs recorded prop.
Pick: Alek Manoah Over 17.5 outs recorded (-145 at BetMGM)
