My analysis
Jordan Poole has been a tremendous scorer as of late, and he went into the All-Star break on a heater. Across his last four outings, Poole averaged 31 points and 3.3 triples on 24 field goal attempts. He provided two 40-point outings in that span, including a career-best 45-point performance against Cleveland.
Poole is averaging career-highs in points (21.5), triples (3.5), field goal attempts (16.5), and 3-point attempts (9.5) this season. He has shouldered a hefty offensive load for a young and rebuilding Washington Wizards team that hasn’t yet reached 10 wins.
Poole is one of two Wizards players averaging at least 30 minutes, and he’s the only player on the team averaging better than 13 points. His 30.6 usage rate comfortably leads the team, as do his shot attempts and 3-point attempts. Former Milwaukee Bucks small forward Khris Middleton is set to make his Wizards debut tonight, but the veteran’s 12.6 points per game are his fewest in over a decade.
Since arriving in Washington, Poole has scored at least 23 points in four of five matchups against the Bucks. He’s averaged 25.8 points, his second-highest average against a single team in that span.
Milwaukee’s defensive rating has fallen from 112.4 on the season to 119.1 across its last 10 games. In that span, the Bucks have allowed the eighth-most 3-pointers (14.3) and seventh-most points (120.6).
Poole has scored 23 points or more in 19 games this season, including two of his last four. He’s averaged 21.7 points at home compared to 20.7 on the road, and he’s posted 22.3 points per game against Eastern Conference opponents. I expect him to show out against a Bucks team he’s regularly torched over the last two seasons.

I expect Poole to have a big night as a scorer, and that means a big night from beyond the arc. Poole has knocked down at least four 3-pointers in 21 of 47 games, and he gets a phenomenal matchup against the Bucks’ vulnerable perimeter defense.
On the season, the Wizards and Bucks have combined to average 222.9 points but, over the last 10, they’ve combined for 225.2. Washington’s defense has been vulnerable all season, but Milwaukee’s once solid defense has faltered as of late. Improved offense and poor defense offers the recipe for a high-scoring game in D.C.
