The Phoenix Suns are off to a scorching 8-1 start this season, but Kevin Durant’s calf injury is a massive blow as they prepare to host the Sacramento Kings tonight.

That leaves Sacramento as the deeper, healthier team, and my Kings vs. Suns predictions give the visitors the nod despite Phoenix’s impressive seven-game win streak.

Read on for my NBA picks for this marquee November 10 matchup, including a standout night from the Kings’ do-it-all big man.

My analysis

If you catch the Sacramento Kings on the right night, they have the look of contenders in the West. Other nights, you wonder if they’ll claw their way into the playoffs at all.

In some ways, that inconsistency was inevitable early in the season after adding DeMar DeRozan to a starting lineup that’s potent offensively and shaky defensively. But there’s no denying the talent on this Sacramento roster, and this feels like a good spot for Mike Brown’s men, who’ve picked up three of their five wins on the road.

Without Kevin Durant (and his 27.6 ppg) and with Jusuf Nurkic listed as questionable, the Phoenix Suns' depth is going to be under the microscope here, and a reshuffled rotation puts even more pressure on Devin Booker’s production.

In contrast, the visitors have five players averaging at least 13 ppg this season, led by De’Aaron Fox and DeRozan, and their high-powered offenses ranks seventh in the league with 116.4 ppg.

It’s also worth remembering that the Suns’ last three victories have all come by three points or fewer, including a 114-113 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, and they’re 3-7 ATS in their past 10 games.

I expect a response from the Kings here after a dispiriting 107-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, where they shot just 3-for-26 from downtown. They’ve covered the spread in six of the last eight meetings between these teams, and I see them pouring in enough points to escape with a win at Footprint Center tonight.

Kings vs Suns same-game parlay

Kings moneyline

Domantas Sabonis Over 16.5 points

Tyus Jones Over 6.5 assists

New season, same old Domantas Sabonis. Through nine games, he’s up to all his usual tricks – dominating on the boards, scoring efficiently and sharing in the playmaking duties.

But it’s his points prop that I particularly like tonight. Though Sabonis has cooled off a little after an explosive first week, he’s averaging 20.6 ppg and he’s gone past this O/U line in six of his nine contests this season despite all the mouths to feed in this Sacramento offense.

With Nurkic hampered by an ankle injury, I expect Sabonis to feast in the paint and put together another outing with better than 60% shooting. Plus, if Mason Plumlee ends up starting for the hosts, the frontcourt depth is thin beyond that.

I’m also buying into a big assists night for Tyus Jones. Without Durant’s one-on-one play, the Phoenix offense is likelier to rely on staple halfcourt sets and that should put the ball in Jones’ hands more often.

He’s averaging 6.6 apg, and he had eight dimes against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. The path is there for him to pick through a vulnerable Kings defense for seven or more assists, especially with the Suns in the Top 10 in 3-point percentage this year.

Kings vs Suns spread and Over/Under analysis

  • The Suns are 5-0 at Footprint Center this season, and they started as favorites before their injury woes dragged the line back to more of a coin flip.
  • Phoenix has come out on top in the past three matchups between these teams, but Sacramento had won five straight meetings prior to that.
  • The Kings are fast starters and they’ve covered the 1H spread in 23 of their last 31 outings.
  • Sacramento has served up three straight Unders, while the Suns have cashed in the Under in 23 of their past 34 home contests.
