My best bet
Ja Morant to record a double-double (-110 at bet365)
My analysis
Through seven games played, Memphis Grizzlies PG Ja Morant is averaging 20.7 points, 9.7 assists, and 5.1 rebounds. His points represent a four-year low, while his assists are a career-high. Morant already has four double-doubles and a triple-double to his credit, as he continues to rack up counting stats.
For as good as he’s been, Morant has been even better over his last three appearances, averaging 23 points and 11.7 dimes with a pair of double-doubles. He came one assist shy of a double-double in Monday’s win over Brooklyn, snapping a three-game streak.
The Los Angeles Lakers allow the seventh-most points to opponents, and the point total for this matchup is set at a healthy 230. I expect Morant to score more than his average tonight, but rather than targeting the 33.5 points+assists prop, I’m much more comfortable taking the double-double prop. Morant will only need to score 10 points and hand out 10 assists to cash it and the odds are the same as his points and assists prop.
The Lakers surrender the fifth-most assists to opponents, which only sweetens the deal.

Both the Lakers (ninth-most points per game) and Grizzlies (eighth-most) are Top-10 in points per game, which should make for a high-scoring matchup in Memphis.
The Lakers are averaging 116.1 points, and the Grizzlies are scoring 117.1. The Lakers allow the seventh-most points per game (118.4), and the Grizzlies allow the 13th-most (115). Los Angeles has hit the Over in four of seven, while Memphis has hit the Over in five of eight.
Rookie Zach Edey is fresh off the best game of his young career after he posted 25 points and 12 rebounds against the Nets on Monday. I’m not simply chasing the points and rebounds from that performance. Over his last three, Edey has averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds and hit the Over in two straight. He failed to hit the Over against the Bucks but still posted 18 points+rebounds in that matchup.
The Lakers allow the third-most paint points to opponents, which is great news for Edey, who’s shooting 71.4% on 9.3 field goal attempts this season. Anthony Davis is questionable with an ankle injury, and Edey could be in an even better position to cash this prop if AD sits out.
