The Orlando Magic’s six-game win streak was snapped Wednesday with a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers and will complete their back-to-back set with a visit to the other Hollywood team tonight.
Both teams are undefeated at home, and both have struggled on the road. The Los Angeles Lakers are riding a six-game winning streak, and my Magic vs. Lakers predictions expect the home team to keep rolling.

Magic vs Lakers prediction
My best bet
Lakers -5 (-110 at bet365)
My analysis
The Orlando Magic are a perfect 7-0 straight-up and 6-1 against the spread at home. On the road, however, Orlando has struggled to 2-7 SU and ATS records. Despite missing Paolo Banchero, the Magic rattled off six straight wins before falling to the Clippers last night.
However, that winning streak was a bit of fool’s gold as it included victories over the Suns, 76ers, Pacers, Hornets, Wizards, and Pelicans. The Suns are the only team on the list with a winning record, and they were missing Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal at the time.
Orlando has had a relatively easy schedule to open up the season. They’ve faced only five teams with a winning record and finished 1-4 in those contests with a -51 point differential. Aside from topping shorthanded Phoenix, the Magic lost all of their other four games against winning teams by 11 points or more.
The Los Angeles Lakers average the second-most points per home game at a whopping 122.1 while the Magic average just 102.1 on the road, good for third-worst.
The Magic have allowed the fewest points per game to opponents overall at 102.1, but that number is 94.7 at home compared to 108.2 on the road. The Lakers sport a +7.4 point differential at home, and the Magic have a -6.1 away mark.
Home-road splits are critical in my evaluation of this line, and I’m backing the Lakers at home to handle business against a Magic team missing its superstar forward and playing on the second night of a back-to-back.
Magic vs Lakers same-game parlay
It’s Year 22, and LeBron James shows no signs of slowing down… except as a scorer. James is averaging the fewest points (23.5) and shot attempts (16.6) of his career, but he’s getting it done elsewhere, averaging 8.1 rebounds and 9.4 assists.
The dimes are the second-highest of his career, and he’s done a great job getting teammates involved. James has provided a double-double in eight of 14 games this season, including six of his last eight, which includes four straight triple-doubles. James has posted five triple-doubles already this season, and he can cash this prop through rebounds or assists. And even with his diminished scoring, I have no doubt he’ll reach double-digit points — something he’s done in every game he’s played since January 5, 2007.
Franz Wagner has shouldered a heavy load for the Magic since Paolo Banchero went down. In those 11 games, Wagner ranks 12th in Usage at 31.4. He’s been doing it all, averaging 26.4 points, six rebounds, and 5.8 assists across his last nine, hitting the Over four times while posting 38 PRAs twice.
Much like the Magic’s win streak, Wagner’s recent heater is a bit of fool’s gold. He went for 32/5/8 against the Suns sans Durant and Beal. Outside of that performance, Wagner hasn’t reached 39 PRAs against a team with a winning record this season. In his other four, Wagner averaged 16.5 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
His home-road splits are notable, too. Wagner has averaged 30.6 PRAs on the road and 35.9 at home. Los Angeles’ defense isn’t tremendous, but this could turn into a blowout, and I’m not counting on Wagner to reach this lofty total.
