Since returning from injury, Paolo Banchero has been on fire, and we expect the Orlando Magic star to dominate an undermanned Spurs defense.

The Orlando Magic will look to get back in the win column on the second night of a back-to-back set when they travel to Frost Bank Center to face the San Antonio Spurs.

My Magic vs. Spurs predictions anticipate Paolo Banchero teeing off against a shorthanded San Antonio roster.

Find out more in my NBA picks for Tuesday, April 1.

My best bet: Paolo Banchero Over 29.5 points (-115 at bet365)

My analysis
Paolo Banchero started the season strong, scoring at will and dropping the first 50-point game of the season. Unfortunately, an oblique injury kept the Orlando Magic star sidelined from November 1 to January 9, but Banchero returned with very little rust and even dropped 34 points in his first game back.

The All-Star break offered Banchero a great chance to rest up and get ready for the home stretch. In 20 appearances since the All-Star break, Banchero's 29.5 points per game rank second in the league, trailing only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (33.7).

Since returning from the break, Banchero has scored at least 30 points in 10 of 20 starts, hitting the Over on 29.5 points in five of eight away from Kia Center. Over their last 10 games, the San Antonio Spurs have allowed the fourth-most points in the NBA (121.4), the fourth-highest field goal percentage (50.2%), and own the league’s 29th-ranked defensive rating (121.8).

San Antonio has also given up the ninth-most points and ninth-highest field goal percentage (48.5) to the opposing power forwards. Banchero has been on a ridiculous heater, and he’s in a favorable position to stay hot tonight.

Magic vs Spurs same-game parlay

Paolo Banchero Over 27.5 points

Paolo Banchero 7+ rebounds

Magic -4

On the season, San Antonio has allowed the third-most rebounds per game to PFs (11.1). Banchero has pulled down at least seven boards in 23 of 42 games this season, and he’s finished with 30 points and seven rebounds seven times across his last 10 starts.

Orlando has won and covered in four of its last six, and the team is starting to get back on track when it matters the most. Despite great play from San Antonio’s young guns, the Spurs are outmatched in terms of talent tonight. Orlando’s stifling defense will present quite a challenge, and Banchero’s dominance gives the Magic another edge.
