My analysis
The Indiana Pacers are coming off a 13-point home loss to the New York Knicks. The Pacers were looking up at a deficit from the opening tip. They failed to defend from anywhere and got clobbered on the glass while draining only 29% from downtown.
They’ll have one more chance to get it right before they get a nice break, and I’m betting on the Pacers taking their angst out on the Washington Wizards.
The young Washington Wizards have some bright spots, but they own the worst win/loss record in the Eastern Conference. They’ve dropped 10 straight at Capital One Arena, and their 12-15-0 ATS record doesn’t instill much confidence. That's why I’m backing the Pacers to cover the spread.
Indiana has defeated Washington in three of their previous four. They are 1-1-2 ATS in those games, but the Wizards have now been thinned out from the trade deadline.
Washington is a turnover machine, with a 1:5 assist-to-turnover ratio. That type of inconsistency won’t pay the rent against a Pacers defense that averages 7.5 steals and 17.3 fastbreak points per game.
I’m betting on a comfortable Pacers victory tonight.

Slowing down Jordan Poole is the key to beating Washington. Aside from a monster 45-point night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Poole has scored 23+ only once in his past 10 games.
Poole is draining 39% from the field and 24% from downtown over his past six. I expect the Pacers' focus to be on the Wizards' leading scorer, which should lead to a low-scoring game for the Washington star.
Tonight’s matchup should be a fast one. The Wizards don’t defend, and Tyrese Haliburton has dished 9+ dimes in two of his last six.
Haliburton’s dimes and Poole’s scoring woes should lead to a comfortable Pacers victory.
