With Super Bowl 59 officially in the books, we can give our full attention to hoops for the next little while. And the NBA kicks off the post-NFL schedule with 10 games for bettors to dive into, including Luka Doncic’s potential debut for the Los Angeles Lakers.
But while many will be dying for Luka NBA player props, my attention is elsewhere in that game. Like how will the Lakers hold up on the glass against the Jazz without a true big man?
A rebounding prop for that game and much more in my NBA picks for Monday, Feb. 10.

NBA player props for February 10
Trey Murphy Under 22.5 Points (-115 at bet365)
New Orleans Pelicans wing Trey Murphy has cooled off after a bit of a hot streak. Thanks in part to injuries, it feels like Murphy has been the only reliable Pelicans player these days. But things are a little tougher when you become the focal point of an opposing team.
And no one presents a tougher defensive front than the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder not only enter with the NBA’s best record and likely MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but they are also a menace on defense.
OKC leads the NBA in defensive rating, opponent 3-point shooting percentage, and opponent effective field-goal percentage.
Murphy is scoring 22.6 points per game and, not surprisingly, his point total sits at 22.5. But it's unlikely he reaches his scoring average against the best defense in the NBA.
Even with his recent hot streak, Murphy has still played below this number in four of his last eight.
Murphy has also played OKC twice this season. In the first meeting, the Thunder held him to 14 points on 4 of 12 shooting and in the second, it was 16 points on 5-for-9 from the floor.
Mix the potential blowout with OKC favored by 17 and it could be a shorter night for the New Orleans starters.
Kyrie Irving Over 27.5 Points (-105 at bet365)
The Dallas Mavericks got the full Anthony Davis experience in one game on Saturday night. AD put up 26 points, grabbed 16 boards, and left his Mavs debut early with a non-contact injury that could keep him out for at least a month.
So, Kyrie Irving & Co. will have to trudge along without their newly acquired center for the next little while. Luckily, he shouldn’t face too much resistance when he takes the court tonight against the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings were never really known for their defense, ranking 20th in defensive rating. But when you trot out a lineup that features DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, and now Zach LaVine, things are only getting worse.
In three games with LaVine in the lineup, the Kings are 1-2 straight up and 0-3 ATS while allowing 118.7 points per game. Oh, and they played Orlando, Portland, and New Orleans, none of which rank higher than 25th in offensive rating.
Sacramento is also getting torched by the 3-ball this season, ranking 29th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage and 21st in opponent 3-point attempts.
This feels like another one of those Kyrie puts his team on his back moments. He is averaging 24.1 points per game but gets a boost as the primary scorer tonight. Kyrie has scored at least 25 points in six of his last 11 games, I like him to go Over 27.5 points against a sad sack Sacramento defense.
John Collins Over 6.5 Rebounds (+105 at bet365)
The Los Angeles Lakers have their superstar of the future in Luka Doncic, but with the trade for Mark Williams getting vetoed their present is a little more in doubt.
One reason the Lakers tried to acquire Williams is because, without Anthony Davis, they now had a huge hole when it came to rebounding.
AD is obviously a presence on the inside, averaging 12 rebounds per game, but even with Davis, the Lakers were not a great team when it came to cleaning the glass, ranking 24th in rebounding rate, and now they don’t have either Davis or Williams.
That means even a team like the Utah Jazz can have an edge on the boards against the Lakers. They would anyway because the Jazz rank an impressive fourth in rebounding rate with the likes of Walker Kessler, Lauri Markkanen, and John Collins.
Kessler and Markkanen are day-to-day with minor injuries, so let’s focus on Collins. The power forward is averaging 8.2 rebounds per game this season but we are getting a rebounding prop of just 6.5 because he has only averaged 6.8 since his return from the injured list.
But this is a number Collins has eclipsed in 21 of his 33 games played this season (64%) and, at plus money, it’s hard not to like the Over against a Lakers team that struggles on the boards.
