Although the NBA betting board has only four games tonight, there are still plenty of player props to consider.

My NBA picks are backing red-hot sophomore Amen Thompson and I'm also betting on Blazers forward Deni Avdija while fading 76ers big man Guerschon Yabusele.

Here are my best free NBA player props for Tuesday, January 28.

NBA player props for January 28

Amen Thompson Over 28.5 points + rebounds (-115 at bet365)

Amen Thompson is red hot and led the Houston Rockets to a win against Boston last night by logging 33 points and nine rebounds. The 21-year-old forward was drafted with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft, and he's starting to play up to that vast potential.

Thompson has seen his playing time surge with Jabari Smith Jr. sidelined by a hand injury. Since the injury to Smith at the start of January, Thompson is averaging 19.2 points and 11.5 rebounds in 39.4 minutes per game.

He'll be in line for another big performance tonight against an Atlanta Hawks squad that plays at the second-fastest pace in the league and ranks 27th in scoring defense (118.5 ppg allowed).

With Thompson logging at least 30 points and rebounds in seven of his last 10 games, take the Over 28.5 on his points + rebounds prop tonight.

Guerschon Yabusele Under 13.5 points (-115 at bet365)

With Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond once again sidelined for the Philadelphia 76ers, Guerschon Yabusele will continue to get run tonight. That said, even with increased playing time, the big man hasn't been consistently productive.

Yabusele is averaging 32.1 mpg in 12 games this month but has a modest 11.6 ppg over that span while scoring 14+ points in just four of those contests. He's coming off a game against the Bulls where he had just six points on 3-for-10 shooting, and rookie center Adem Bona is starting to cut into his minutes as well.

Yabusele won't find it easy to get buckets tonight since he'll likely be matched up against an elite defender in Anthony Davis. In addition, the Los Angeles Lakers have played at the third-slowest pace in the league over the last month, while the Sixers are 26th in pace over that span, so expect fewer possessions for both teams.

Deni Avdija Over 16.5 points (-115 at bet365)

Deni Avdija is fresh off an outstanding performance against the Thunder where he dropped 28 points with eight rebounds and eight assists.

The O/U for Avdija's points today is 16.5, a number he has eclipsed in 13 of his last 19 games. The do-everything forward has averaged 18.1 points per game on 51.5% shooting over that span.

Avdija will benefit from home-court advantage tonight against the fast-paced Milwaukee Bucks, who are playing the tail end of a back-to-back.
