Raptors vs Knicks Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

Jalen Brunson is coming off a 42-point performance last night vs. the Rockets but Andrew Caley believes the going will be a lot tougher tonight against a sneaky-good Raptors defense.

Who are you and what have you done with the Toronto Raptors?

The Raptors have won eight of their last ten games heading into tonight’s matchup with the New York Knicks and my Knicks vs. Raptors predictions like their defense to shine once more.

Here are my NBA picks for this Atlantic Division matchup which is set to tip off at 7:30 pm ET on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Raptors vs Knicks prediction

My Raptors pick
Jalen Brunson Under 26.5 points (-115 at PointsBet Canada)

My analysis
Just a couple of weeks ago it looked like this team had fully embraced the tank and was firmly in the Capture the Flagg hunt. But then a funny thing happened. The Toronto Raptors started winning games.

In fact, they’ve won eight of their last 10 heading into tonight’s matchup with the New York Knicks, with seven of those wins coming as outright underdogs. They are 5.5-point home underdogs against the Knicks.

Unfortunately, the Knicks are also playing well, winners of six of their last seven and they also handled their business fairly easily when these teams met back on Jan. 8 earning a 112-98 victory, covering a 12.5-point spread in the process.

To make things even tougher on the Raps, they’ll be without RJ Barrett (concussion), the former Knick who has revitalized his career in Toronto.

So, what has propelled the Raptors to go on this run? Well, it has all started at the defense end of the floor. Toronto leads the NBA in defensive rating while ranking third in opponent field goal and three-point percentage during that span.

The Raps have been particularly tough on opposing guards, limiting them to 43.8% shooting from the floor, including 32.5% from beyond the arc. Those numbers rank first and third over that span.

That leads me to believe they’ll be a tough matchup for Jalen Brunson tonight. Brunson is having another fantastic season for the Knicks averaging 26 points and 7.6 assists per game and he is coming off an outstanding 42-point performance against the Houston Rockets just last night.

What a perfect spot for a letdown.

Prior to that 42-point outburst, Brunson was in the middle of a seven-game stretch where he was averaging a good, but unspectacular 24.1 points per game where he scored 26 points or fewer five times. Brunson’s point total for this matchup is sitting at 26.5.

On top of that, the Raptors limited Brunson to just 5-13 shooting for 13 points in that Jan. 8 meeting.

Coach Thibs clearly doesn’t care about minutes, but this is a back-to-back in what looks like a sneaky-tough matchup for Brunson. I’m betting the Raps smother him again, so give me the Under on his points prop.

Raptors vs Knicks same-game parlay

Jalen Brunson Under 26.5 points

Ochai Agbaji Over 9.5 points

Ochai Agbaji Over 1.5 threes

With RJ Barrett out and Immanuel Quickely’s inability to stay on the court this season, a Raptors player or two will have to step up to support Scottie Barnes. I’m starting by looking at Ochai Agbaji

Agbaji has recently returned from an injury of his own but is back to nearly 22 minutes a game while shooting 38.5% from three-point range over his last three games. He’s been a 40.1% three-point shooter for the season and while you might not think it, the Knicks are getting burned on the three-ball.

New York doesn’t allow a ton of three attempts, but they rank dead last in the NBA in opponent three-point shooting percentage. Agbaji has hit two more threes twice in his last three games and should have an expanded role tonight.

Let’s take Agbaji to go Over 9.5 points and 1.5 threes tonight.

Raptors vs Knicks spread and Over/Under analysis

  • The Raptors opened this game as 6-point home underdogs and have bounced bounced back-and-forth between +6 and +5. They sit at 5.5 as of early Tuesday afternoon.
  • The Raptors have been a great bet as underdogs lately, going 8-2 ATS dating back to Jan. 9, winning seven of those games outright. However, on Jan. 8 they failed to cover as 12.5-point road dogs against this same Knicks team.
  • The total hit the board at 230.5 and the early money has come in on the Under driving the number down to 228.5.
  • The last time these teams met the total closed at 232.5 and fell well short of that number, so this lower number makes sense considering the Raptors improved defense. But I'm wary of the total since both teams play at a high pace.

Raptors vs Knicks trend

The Knicks have won seven consecutive meetings against the Raptors, covering the spread six times in that span. Find more NBA betting trends for Raptors vs. Knicks.

He began at Covers as a news editor and has now done everything under the sun when it comes to content. His work has been seen on TSN, Sportsnet, VSiN, and CBS.

These days Andrew’s betting expertise is focused on his favorite teams – the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors. He’s also an avid college football fan and bettor. You can also call him Covers’ Sixth Man, as he regularly steps up to guest host Before You Bet and our MLB and NCAAF release shows.

The sportsbook where he does the bulk of his betting is bet365 thanks to its numerous prop betting options and competitive odds. His best advice? Find the balance between the numbers and what you see on the playing field. Then find the best price using multiple books. And don’t ask him where the nickname Taco comes from. It’s not an interesting story. Seriously.
