My analysis
Don't look now, but the Toronto Raptors are red-hot, going 6-1 straight up and against the spread in their last seven games. That turnaround has been largely due to them locking up opponents with Toronto leading the NBA in defensive rating over that span.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards are fresh off a blowout loss to Mavericks and have now lost 14 games in a row. They have the league's worst record at 6-39 and their average scoring margin of -14.5 points per game is the second-worst in NBA history.

This is a Wizards team with the lowest rated offense and defense in the league. Despite playing at a speedy tempo the Wizards have averaged 104.1 ppg on just 40.6% shooting over their last 10 contests. They are 29th in the league in effective field goal percentage (50.7%) with that number dipping to 48.2% over that 10-game stretch. 

The Raptors limited the Pelicans to 104 points in their last game and have held three of their last six opponents below 100 points. It's not like they've only been shutting down mediocre attacks either with Toronto holding the Celtics to 97 points on 40% shooting two weeks ago.

Expect the Raptors to keep this inefficient Wizards offense in check.

A big reason why the Raptors have been defending at a high level is that Davion Mitchell has entered the starting lineup with Immanuel Quickley once again injured. Mitchell is an excellent on-ball defender and will lock up Jordan Poole who has been held below 22.5 points in eight of his last 10 games. 

R.J. Barrett leads the Raptors with 22.0 points per game. He's fourth in the league in transition points per game (6.5) and 14th in points in the paint per game (11.9). He should thrive against a Wizards squad that surrenders a league-high 122.3 ppg and struggles to defend at the rim and on the fast break.

The Raptors have struggled away from home for most of the season but won a pair of games in Atlanta last week. The short trip to D.C. shouldn't affect them against a historically bad Wizards team.
