The Phoenix Suns are rolling at the moment and now face a Detroit Pistons team that is one of the worst in the Eastern Conference. This game does, however, start rather early for a Western Conference team and the Pistons have been playing well at home lately.

Will Detroit find a way to stick around against Phoenix? You’ll want to read our Suns vs. Pistons picks and predictions for this one.

Suns vs Pistons picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

The Suns have really been playing some good basketball coming into this one, as they have now won five of their last six games. Phoenix is also 4-1-1 ATS in those contests, which shows the team is also handling its business with relative ease. The Suns are, however, in a tough position in this meeting with the Pistons. This game is set to tip-off at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is 11:00 a.m. ET in Arizona. That makes this an extremely early game for the Suns, and they’re also facing a Pistons team that has been playing well at home recently.

The Pistons have now won three of their last four games and they’re 5-1 both SU and ATS in their last six home games. Detroit’s backcourt duo of Cade Cunningham and Killian Hayes is one of the reasons you can count on the Pistons to keep it up. Both players are very sturdy defensively, which means they’ll take pride in going up against Chris Paul and Devin Booker. Cunningham could also go off on the offensive end, especially if it takes some time for the Suns to wake up here.

It’s also worth noting that Hamidou Diallo is playing some great basketball lately. He’s an absurd athlete and plays with a ton of energy, and he could be the type of guy that really gives Phoenix trouble if the team doesn’t take this game seriously enough.

Overall, the Suns should end up winning this game in the end, but look for it to be a little closer than they’d like for it to be.

Prediction: Pistons +12.5 (-110)

The Suns shot 46.9% from the field in a win over the Toronto Raptors last game, but they still only scored 103 points in that one. Phoenix has been playing at a much slower pace recently, ranking just 18th in pace over the last five games. Look for the Suns to play yet another slower game here, as the team has been using its smothering defense to win games of late. Phoenix is second in the league in defensive rating this season and that’s a big part of the reason the Under has hit in three of the team’s last four.

Detroit has also gone Under the total in three of its last five games, so it’s not like this team is playing high-scoring games either. It’s also worth noting that the Under is 28-16 when the Pistons are trying to avenge a same-season loss since the start of last year. The average total points scored in those games is 210.2 points per game.

Prediction: Under 215.5 (-110)

The Suns are the much better team, but it’s just hard to ask a Western Conference team to go on the road and cover a huge spread in an early afternoon matchup. That’s especially true when the Pistons have quite a few players that play hard on both ends of the floor. That means that if Phoenix’s star-studded backcourt isn’t ready to go right away, Detroit could be quite competitive early on.

The Pistons are actually 8-2 ATS as home underdogs of 6.5 to 12 points this season. They’re also 4-2 ATS in games against Pacific division opponents, while the Suns are 1-3 ATS versus the Central division this year.

Pick: Pistons +12.5 (-110)
