My analysis
Tonight’s matchup features the two top seeds in the West and a potential playoff preview. I fully expect Ja Morant to get up for this one.
Morant has faced two of the other Top 5 teams in the West this season, averaging 31.7 PRAs against the Rockets and 31 against the Lakers. He hit the Over in three of those five outings. Morant hasn’t faced Denver, and he sat out the Memphis Grizzlies’ first meeting with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Morant missed playing the Thunder last season too, but he faced them twice in 2022 and delivered respective PRA totals of 50 and 37. The Thunder’s defense isn’t a scary matchup for Morant, as OKC has surrendered 37 PRAs to opposing PGs this season.
Memphis’ superstar floor general has been excellent over his last two games, averaging 25.5 points, four rebounds, and 7.5 assists, good for 37 PRAs. He hit the Over in each of those two contests, and he’s done that in 19 of 30 on the season overall.
Morant is averaging 32.4 PRAs per game this season, and he’s been only slightly better on the road than at home. Those splits won’t dissuade me from betting the Over on his line, though. Morant has gone for at least 32 PRAs in nine of 17 at FedExForum.

Memphis is 21-5 at home, and the team has covered in 18 of those games. The Thunder are just 12-9-2 ATS on the road and 11-8-2 as the road favorite. With such a small point spread, it makes the most sense to pick Memphis to win outright.
