Get set for an exciting night of American Athletic Conference football when the North Texas Mean Green meet the UTSA Roadrunners at the historic Alamodome.

This electric matchup features two top passing offenses in the AAC, and my North Texas vs. UTSA predictions expect the Roadrunners to prevail in a shootout.

My analysis

While the North Texas Mean Green rank third in the nation in total yards (503), their hopes of becoming Bowl-eligible should end on Friday night.

The UTSA Roadrunners’ offense has been clicking on all cylinders this season, averaging 30 points per night. Sophomore quarterback Owen McCown boasts 20 touchdown passes and has spread the ball out to four teammates who have snagged 270+ in receiving yards.

Although both defenses are quite weak, the Roadrunners are 4-0 at home, and UTSA possesses the second-best rushing defense in the AAC. They will now face a North Texas rushing defense that surrenders nearly 200 yards per night.

The Roadrunners have also won three straight against North Texas. UTSA is tidier with the rock and boasts 14 takeaways this season, so it'll wreak enough havoc on the defensive end to outscore the Mean Green.

I expect UTSA to find success on the ground, which should open the door for a big passing night for McCown & Co. to secure the win.

North Texas vs UTSA same-game parlay (SGP)

UTSA moneyline

UTSA team total Over 35.5

North Texas team total Under 37.5

UTSA has eclipsed this number in each of its last three, as the Roadrunners' offense has been on point. McCown is seeing the field well with 10 passing touchdowns, and he now faces a North Texas defense allowing 36+ points in three of its previous four.

Meanwhile, Mean Green QB Chandler Morris is up against an opportunistic UTSA defense that boasted 14 gained turnovers while leading the conference with 14 forced fumbles. North Texas has cleared 38 points only once across their previous four, and I'm fading them on Friday.
