The Mets have had the Phillies' number of late, and our MLB betting picks believe the Amazins will complete the series sweep behind a solid day at the plate from Juan Soto.

The New York Mets look for their second consecutive series home sweep when they host the Philadelphia Phillies this afternoon at Citi Field.

New York has dominated their recent history with Philadelphia, and my Phillies vs. Mets predictions expect that dominance to continue today.

Read on for my MLB picks for Wednesday, April 23.

My Phillies vs Mets best bet: Mets moneyline (+100 at Caesars)

At this point, the New York Mets must step on the field expecting to beat the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets have won eight of their previous 10 against the Phillies and are on the verge of a series sweep over their NL East rival this afternoon at Citi Field.

The Mets will confidently go to the plate against Phillies ace Zack Wheeler. They beat him twice in 2024, including a 6-2 NLDS Game 1 victory in Philadelphia.

Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and Juan Soto have all had success against the former Met. That success could continue today as Wheeler has surrendered nine earned runs across 11 1/3 road frames this season.

Mets lefty David Peterson has been fantastic at Citi Field. He’s allowed four earned runs across 10 frames and hasn’t served up a home run in his last three starts.

Peterson enjoyed postseason success against these Phillies, and the visitors' 26% strikeout rate across 283 plate appearances should allow Peterson to hold the Philadelphia bats in check long enough for the NY bats to win this one.

The Mets have been dominant at Citi Field and against the Phillies. I expect that dominance to continue this afternoon.
