Chargers vs Chiefs picks

Chargers vs Chiefs expert picks & predictions

Pick: Justin Herbert Over 20.5 rushing yards (-110 at bet365)

It's not Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert's arm that Josh Inglis is focused on, but his legs, as he's betting on him to clear 20.5 rushing yards tonight.

"Herbert will continue to face some long passing downs with the ineffectiveness of his early run game. Couple that with a receiving group that very well could be without its best weapon in Ladd McConkey, and Herbert might be doing a lot of improvising Sunday night.

"Additionally, Herbert has increased his rushing frequency of late. He had topped this number easily in three straight games prior to Week 13 where the offense had to do very little thanks to Kirk Cousins’ generosity."

Out of sheer necessity, Herbert will be forced to pivot and run often.

"From Week 8 to 12 — the same time the running game began to sputter — Herbert had games of 49, two, 32, 65, and 29 rushing yards. The game he had just two yards, the Bolts won wire-to-wire vs. the Browns and led 20-3 at halftime."

Chargers vs Chiefs prop pick

Pick: Patrick Mahomes Over 247.5 passing yards (-110 at bet365)

Rohit Ponnaiya is backing Herbert's opposite by taking Patrick Mahomes to air it out.

"When these teams clashed in L.A. in Week 4, Mahomes completed 65.5% of his passes for 245 yards. However, his adjusted completion percentage was significantly higher at 83.3%, and he was struggling to get on the same page with his new targets."

Despite injuries to the receiving corps, reinforcements have arrived and this total is too low.

"The Kansas City Chiefs have added DeAndre Hopkins, and Mahomes has found his groove, throwing for more than 260 yards in five of his last six games."

He'll do it again tonight.

Patrick Mahomes prop pick

Pick: Patrick Mahomes Over 0.5 interceptions (-115 at bet365)

Sticking with Mahomes, Sam Farley expects that added volume through the air will be greeted with at least one pick against L.A.'s solid secondary.

"The Chargers currently rank sixth in terms of defensive DVOA and have been causing opposing quarterbacks problems all season. They’re amongst the best teams in terms of passing yardage allowed, too, with 206.4 yards allowed through the air each week.

"One area in which Los Angeles has excelled is takeaways. The Chargers have already racked up 13 picks this season, with just three teams currently having more."

For as successful as the Chiefs and Mahomes have been this year, interceptions have been on the rise.

"He opened the season by throwing an interception in seven straight and has only had four games in which he hasn’t thrown one.

"When these teams met in Week 4, we saw Mahomes get intercepted as the Chargers held him to 245 yards and one passing touchdown. With L.A. really ascending, this could get ugly for the Chiefs' superstar.

Chargers vs Chiefs SNF same-game parlay

Justin Herbert 20+ rushing yards

Patrick Mahomes 20+ rushing yards

DeAndre Hopkins 50+ receiving yards

Josh is going for a big multiplier as Herbert's rushing number will be met with Mahomes' feet.

"THE BLITZ is on board, projecting 21 yards for Patrick Mahomes (total of 17.5) and Herbert as a four-point dog on the road and likely facing long third downs will have ample scrambling opportunities."
