Giants vs Commanders Picks & Predictions for Week 2: Offenses Struggle to String Together Scores

Both the Giants and Commanders got pummeled in Week 1 and that could make for an ugly affair when they face off in Week 2. Our NFL picks below reflect as such.

The Washington Commanders take on the New York Giants in their first home game of the season on Sunday.

Washington is a slight home favorite but our Giants vs. Commanders predictions are happy to fade these two offenses that combined for just 26 points in Week 1. Read more in our free NFL picks below.

Giants vs Commanders prediction

My best bet
Neither team to score 3+ unanswered times (+115 at BetMGM)

My analysis
The New York Giants only scored twice in Week 1 — both field goals — and the Washington Commanders scored in each of the final three quarters with two Bucs scores in between. In fact, the Commanders’ final score came in the final minutes of the game with Jayden Daniels running for his second touchdown of his NFL debut.

Daniel Jones has historically had success against Washington, but all of that came at least two seasons ago. He only played in six games last season, missing both against Washington due to injury. The former sixth-overall pick’s time may be running out in New York.

These teams typically play back-and-forth games, which isn’t too surprising given their rivalry and lack of recent success. Only once in the last 10 meetings has a team logged 3+ unanswered scores. That was back in Week 18 of the 2021 season in a 22-7 Washington victory. The Commanders kicked a field goal in each of the first two quarters before scoring on an interception return early in the second half.

I don’t see anything like that happening here. In a game where points will be hard to come by, neither team should be able to run up the score.

Giants vs Commanders same-game parlay

Jayden Daniels anytime touchdown

Austin Ekeler 40+ rushing + receiving yards

Under 43.5

Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels showed off his legs for two scores last week and while the Commanders may not want him to run too much, he’ll take it if the opportunities are there and they should be given his receiving corps.

Austin Ekeler had a strong Commanders debut last week with 62 total yards — 52 receiving on four catches and 10 rushing on two attempts. Look for him to remain a good secondary option to Brian Robinson Jr. in that backfield.
