Chase Young Odds and Super Bowl Props: Young, Wild, and Free

Chase Young looked to be a great addition to this Niners' defense, and although he fit in during the regular season, things aren't going too well in the playoffs. With so much on the line come Sunday, our NFL picks expect Young to give it his all.

Chase Young has vowed that the San Francisco 49ers defense will show an improved effort on Sunday when they take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58.

Young was a key acquisition this year for the 49ers but was one of a handful of San Francisco defenders who looked to be giving less than 100% on tape in the team’s first two playoff games. The 49ers may be the Super Bowl odds favorites, but it will take a determined effort to slow down the Kansas City offense. I’ll take a look at who might step up for the Niners in my free NFL picks surrounding Chase Young odds.

Chase Young Super Bowl prop pick

To record a sack (+235)

A former Ohio State Buckeyes standout, Chase Young quickly proved he could be an important contributor to an NFL defense with the Washington Commanders. Midway through his fourth season, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers and has been just as impactful on what was already one of the top defensive units in the league.

Young has totaled 7.5 sacks and 25 total tackles this season. While he only played nine games for the 49ers, he still recorded 2.5 sacks in the time, ranking seventh on the team for the year. And while Young has yet to record a sack in the postseason, he has made five solo tackles.

Still, the story of the postseason for the 49ers defense has been a lack of effort. Young found himself at the center of this firestorm, and addressed it during his early week chats with the media ahead of the Super Bowl.

“We know we have to do better,” Young told reporters. "We can’t have that. I can’t have that.”

Young will have to work alongside Nick Bosa and others to get pressure on Patrick Mahomes. While San Francisco may be the favorite in this game, that’s contingent on the 49ers doing more to slow the Kansas City Chiefs than they have to their other opponents this offseason.

Young is +235 to record a sack in the Super Bowl. That might not seem like enough, but it’s important to remember that Young only needs to record a half-sack to satisfy the prop bet. Young has gotten on the board with at least a half-sack in four of his nine games with the 49ers, and in eight of his 15 games overall this season.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
