Blackhawks vs Golden Knights Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Hill Helps Vegas Get Eighth Straight Win

The Blackhawks have had difficulty finding the twine this year even with Connor Bedard on their side. Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill is unlikely to have a hard time tonight, per our NHL betting picks.

A Western Conference tilt kicks off Friday’s NHL slate as the Vegas Golden Knights host the Chicago Blackhawks.

Vegas brings its spotless 7-0 record into this matchup as it continues to ride the momentum of last season’s Stanley Cup odds victory. Not surprisingly, they're massive favorites in the NHL odds tonight.

Will the Knights take care of business once again, or can the Hawks pull off the road upset? Find out in our free NHL picks for Blackhawks vs. Golden Knights on Friday, October 27.

Blackhawks vs Golden Knights predictions

Chicago held some grueling practices these last few days as coach Luke Richardson attempts to send a message to his team for their soft play over the past week. While the message is a good one, there is only so much Connor Bedard and this rebuilding lineup can do against stacked teams like Vegas.

The Blackhawks have had a brutal schedule to open the campaign, facing playoff teams in five of their past six games. Subsequently, this offense has struggled mightily, averaging just 1.67 goals scored per game over that span.

There were five or fewer total goals scored in five of those six outings. Yes, the one game that saw an increase in goal production was against the Golden Knights, but I don’t expect that to happen again.

Chicago ranks 21st in the league in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) at 5-on-5. The defense has not been any better, but a pair of hot goaltenders continues to bail out the poor blueline.

It remains to be seen whether Petr Mrazek or Arvid Soderblom will draw the start for the Hawks, but they are both equally as strong this year with save percentages north of .912. If the goaltending continues to hold true, then quelling a strong Knights offense should help keep this game Under the total of 5.5, considering that the Hawks are likely to struggle offensively once again.

Goaltender Adin Hill continues to have a hot hand from last year’s Cup run. Through his first four starts this season, Hill is 4-0 with a .934 SV% and 1.73 GAA.

There were five or fewer total goals scored in three of those four outings. Among starting goaltenders, he ranks fourth in goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (GSAx/60) at 5-on-5.

Blackhawks vs Golden Knights same-game parlay

Under 5.5

Golden Knights moneyline

Laying north of three dollars on an NHL moneyline is usually too steep to consider, but this is just one of those matchups where it shouldn’t hurt to include it to boost the Under if you choose. Vegas is better than Chicago offensively, defensively, behind the bench, on special teams, and in the faceoff circle.

That is not even mentioning that the Knights are playing on their home ice in this contest, which is one of the more difficult barns to travel to in the NHL. The only aspect of the game where the Hawks can hang with Vegas is in net, but I would still give the advantage to Hill over Mrazek or Soderblom.

The Knights’ win streak will come to an end sooner rather than later, but I’m aligned with bookmakers in the sense that I find it very unlikely it occurs on Friday.

Blackhawks vs Golden Knights moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Golden Knights opened as a -320 favorite and have since been bet down to -315. I don't think the market is going to push this favorite any higher after an opening price north of three dollars, so if you like Vegas, you should probably wait until closer to puck drop.

That brings us to the total, which opened at 6.5 and was quickly bet down to 5.5 or 6, depending on where you look. The opening total was likely impacted by Vegas’ 5-3 win over Chicago last week, although I expect more of a defensive struggle this time around.

There have been five or fewer total goals scored in three of the past four meetings between these two teams.
