The Vancouver Canucks will be faced with a very tough task tonight. The Washington Capitals are coming to town as not only the best team in the NHL right now but also the hottest team.

With that said, Vancouver can slow down Washington, which makes my Canucks vs. Capitals predictions side with the Under.

Find out why in my NHL picks for January 25.

My Canucks analysis
This has all the feels of a low-scoring affair between the Vancouver Canucks and Washington Capitals.

Vancouver hasn’t announced who its starting goaltender will be at the time of writing this, but another bright spot for it this season has been the play of Kevin Lankinen.

Thatcher Demko has started the last four straight games for Vancouver, but Lankinen has put up the better numbers. Lankinen has skated to a 16-8-6 record while putting up a .903 SV% with a 2.63 GAA.

For the Capitals, Charlie Lindgren is coming off of a shutout performance, where he stopped all 22 shots he faced. Just like Vancouver, the Capitals haven’t announced their starter for tonight, either.

Their goaltending tandem has been one of the bests in the NHL all season. Whether it’s Lindgren or Logan Thompson, the Capitals have a guy that they trust in between the pipes. Thompson has been one of the best goalies in the entire NHL, boasting a 22-2-3 record with a .925 SV% and a 2.09 GAA.

This game will be all about the goaltending.

Canucks vs Capitals odds analysis

The Capitals are currently road favorites while the total is 5.5

The Canucks are facing a bit of adversity right now as they have lost four of their last five games, and there has been a lot of noise from the outside about what’s going on inside their locker room.

One of the positives this season for the Canucks has been the player of their captain, Quinn Hughes. Hughes has 12 goals and 40 assists in 43 games played this season, and he has put the weight of the world on his shoulders.
