The Vancouver Canucks are reeling from their mediocre road trip, but are now back in their own barn where they've lost just twice all year. With the lowly Ducks in town, our NHL picks are expecting a blowout in Vancouver.

After a sizzling start to the season, the Vancouver Canucks have been treading water of late, having dropped four of their last six. On Tuesday, they’ll get a chance to find their footing, set as -250 favorites in the NHL odds when they host the Anaheim Ducks.

Meanwhile, Anaheim has lost six straight — bookended by a pair of 8-2 drubbings — with the latest at the hands of the lowly Edmonton Oilers.

With both teams looking to get back on track, find out which side I'll be backing in my free NHL picks for the Ducks vs Canucks on November 28.

Ducks vs Canucks predictions

Playing the second night of a back-to-back, the Vancouver Canucks ended their three-game road trip in shame, losing 4-3 to the San Jose Sharks — a team with a league-low 10 points on the season.

Vancouver has played a road-heavy schedule of late, playing away from its barn seven of their last 10 away from Rogers Arena. That's played a part in the team going just 4-4-1 over its last nine contests.

The Canucks schedule shifts now, with seven home starts over the next eight games coming up. Vancouver has just one regulation loss at Rogers Arena, going 7-1-1. The offense pumps up to 4.33 at home, and their goal against dips to 1.89. Both those figures are second overall in the NHL.

It’s a polar opposite scenario for the Anaheim Ducks, who have tallied three goals or more just once during this six-game slide. They're averaging a paltry 1.83 goals over this stretch, and rank 27th in goals for this season at just 2.76 per contest. Defensively, Anaheim has been hemorrhaging, giving up at least three goals in five of the last six and averaging five goals against.

The Ducks are also the most penalized team in the NHL, having to play shorthanded 94 times this season. They’re the only club that’s topped 90, a whopping 11 more than the next closest team.

That should be advantage Vancouver, who boasts one of the best power plays in the NHL. The Canucks man advantage is operating on a 30% rate, a Top 4 mark in the league. Rest should play a factor as well, with Vancouver going 5-0 in its last five games when playing on two days rest.

That’s enough for me to tilt the ice in the Canucks' favor tonight.

My best bet: Canucks -1.5 (-105 at SIA)

Ducks vs Canucks same-game parlay

Canucks -1.5

Over 1.5 first period goals

Over 6.5

The Canucks have had strong starts at home this season, tallying goals in five of their nine games and crossing that 1.5-goal total in four contests. Overall, the Canucks are averaging 1.09 goals for and 0.82 goals against in the first periods this year, clearing that total mark if they stick to their averages.

Anaheim has found itself behind the eight ball plenty, with the Ducks losing the first period in each of their last six games. In the last 10 games, the Ducks are surrendering an average of 1.8 goals against the in the opening frame, with the opposition clearing that scoring total on their own. Anaheim is potting just 0.5 goals over that same stretch.

I’ll wrap up this SGP with the game total, sitting at 6.5 goals. For this, I'm leaning to the Over, which is 8-2-1 in the last 11 Canucks games overall. The Over is also 5-1 in Anaheim’s last six road games.

Ducks vs Canucks moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The moneyline has been bouncing around the books over the past few days. The steepest odds picking the Canucks to win outright has been -300, but that’s toned down in the past couple of days. The best odds you can get if you’re picking the favored ‘Nucks is now -240.

If you’re thinking underdog, you can find the Ducks with juice as high as +220, though many of the books have brought that figure down to around the +195 range. The betting favorite is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams.

As for the total, there's very little variety. The 6.5-goal total almost universal across the board, with a few books only going down by a half-point. Vancouver has been an Over delight, having hit in 14 of 20 matchups, while the Over is just 10-11 in 21 Ducks games
