The Calgary Flames have been tough to top at Scotiabank Saddledome, and the New York Rangers rank among the best defensive teams in the league.

My Rangers vs. Flames predictions expect goals to be few and far between for both clubs, which will benefit Calgary in this November 21 tilt.

Flames vs Rangers prediction

My Flames pick
Under 6 (-110 at BET99)

My Flames analysis
The Calgary Flames and New York Rangers have been two of the best defensive teams all season, and the Flames have been particularly stingy at the Scotiabank Saddledome with just 2.2 goals against per game.

Additionally, the Rangers have allowed the fewest goals per game on the highway (1.63).

This goaltending matchup will also showcase a contender in the Vezina Trophy odds going up against a contender in the Calder Trophy odds.

Flames rookie Dustin Wolf has been as advertised and is beginning to earn more starts. He’s started — and won — three of the past four and stopped 85 of 87 shots. Home ice has also been kind to Wolf, as he’s won six of seven starts with a .925 SV% and 2.36 GAA.

Rangers starter Igor Shesterkin has been tougher to beat on the road this season, too. He’s posted a .937 SV% and 2.01 GAA, and I expect his overall numbers will only improve as the season progresses.

Plus, Calgary has played to the Under in 10 of its past 11 games, including three consecutive on home ice.

Flames vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)

Flames moneyline

Under 6

Reilly Smith Under 0.5 points

While difficult to quantify, I’m beginning to believe the Saddledome is becoming increasingly more uncomfortable for visiting teams and gives a larger home-ice advantage to the Flames. It’s the second-oldest barn in the NHL, it requires an endless list of repairs, and its replacement is set to host the Flames for the 2027-28 season.

Calgary is 7-3 on home ice and 3-3-3 on the road, and the Flames have allowed over an entire goal more per game on the highway.

With that in mind, Rangers winger Reilly Smith has been seeing top-line duty with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, but the trio haven’t exactly been piling up the points.

The trio has been on the ice for just 2.83 goals per 60 minutes (six total across 17 games) while posting a 46.6 Corsi For percentage and 46.5 expected goals percentage at 5-on-5.
