Knights vs Maple Leafs Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Bertuzzi Takes Advantage of Open Ice

To say the Maple Leafs man advantage has been hot would be an understatement, and with Tyler Bertuzzi's price way off of his PP linemate's, our NHL picks are targeting him to find the score sheet while a man up.

Latest NHL Picks

We’ve got 12 games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including a cross-conference clash between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vegas Golden Knights.

The NHL odds suggest the Buds should beat the defending cup champs for their eighth straight win tonight, but they may need a little help from the power play to get it done, which opens up the door for a solid value opportunity for this matchup.

Find out why in my free NHL picks for the Golden Knights vs. Maple Leafs on February 27.

Golden Knights vs Maple Leafs odds

Golden Knights vs Maple Leafs predictions

The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking for their second win in less than a week against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights have been struggling with both Jack Eichel and Mark Stone out of the lineup as the team has lost five of their last seven games, including last week’s 7-3 blowout loss to Toronto at T-Mobile Arena. It was a full team effort from the Buds, with six different scorers in the win.

Toronto will look to replicate that performance again tonight as it looks for its eighth win in a row.

A big reason for Toronto’s success lately has been the strength of its power play. Throughout this seven-game winning streak, the Leafs' power play is operating at 47.6%, and a whopping 53% since returning from the All-Star break.

Toronto has scored a PP goal in seven of its last 10 games, and 14 overall. This is where I see great value on the board from a betting perspective tonight.

One material change made recently to the Leafs' man advantage is Tyler Bertuzzi being placed on the first power play unit a couple of games ago over John Tavares. This has paid dividends immediately for the Leafs, as Bertuzzi has scored three times as a member of the first unit over the last five games since the switch and has been on the ice for seven goals overall over that stretch.

Here’s the kicker: at +525 the market correction of his price to record a power play point has not taken place yet, and I think it’s a chance to get great value on a member of Toronto’s top unit that is priced like a player on PP2.

This price is clearly underpriced compared to the rest of his first unit mates, who are in the +120 – +180 range.

My best bet: Tyler Bertuzzi Over 0.5 power play points (+525 at SIA)

Golden Knights vs Maple Leafs same-game parlay

Auston Matthews anytime goalscorer

Both teams to score Over 1.5 goals

Maple Leafs moneyline

For leg one of my same-game parlay, I’ll go with what’s been one of the best bets on the board all season long, and that’s for Auston Matthews to score. He scored last week against Vegas and has 52 markers on the year, looking to increase his league lead.

Next up, let’s go with both teams to go Over 1.5 goals. The two teams combined for 17-3 on the Over on this bet since returning from the All-Star break earlier this month. Both teams average well over three goals per game, so two shouldn’t be difficult to get for both sides.

For my final leg, let’s roll with the Maple Leafs on the moneyline as they extend the winning streak to eight straight games tonight. The Leafs are playing with purpose, structure, and consistency. This has resulted in the best stretch of hockey for the Buds. Vegas, however, has lost five of its last six games and will be without two of its best forwards — Eichel and Stone.

Golden Knights vs Maple Leafs moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Maple Leafs come into tonight as the betting favorites at -165, with the Golden Knights entering as +140 road dogs.. The Leafs enter as the hottest team in the NHL with seven straight wins, and I think they make it eight in a row tonight.

The total for tonight’s game is set at 6.5 goals, with the Over at +100 and the Under at -120. I don’t have a good sense of the total for tonight’s game. Last week, the game went Over the number, but the total is split at 5-5 over the last 10 games between the two.

That said, I’d say it’s more likely the Golden Knights put forth a better effort tonight than last week, which could lead to a tighter, low-scoring game.
