The Detroit Red Wings and Vegas Golden Knights will both look to get back in the win column this afternoon.

The Golden Knights let one slip away yesterday in Buffalo after allowing a late third-period lead slip away, as the Red Wings fell short on the road in Carolina on Friday night by the score of 4-2.

Vegas will be on the second leg of a back-to-back, does that give the home team the edge? Find out why my Golden Knights vs. Red Wings predictions and NHL picks favor the home team.

Golden Knights vs Red Wings prediction

My best bet: Red Wings moneyline (+106 at FanDuel)

My analysis
The Detroit Red Wings can’t let any points slip away as they’re still trying to find a way to sneak into the playoffs. They sit four points behind the Rangers for the second wild card spot, but after an ugly recent stretch of games, this streaky team has its work cut out for it.

That said, the Vegas Golden Knights are playing their fourth road game in the six nights, and it’s only human nature for the travel to catch up to them.

The Golden Knights are 1-0-2 on the road trip thus far and Ilya Samsonov will likely be in goal. He's 2-1-1 over his last four starts, and his numbers have not been good. He’s skating to a .838 SV% with a 3.26 GAA. It's fair to say that he hasn't been at the top of his game lately.

Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat have been leading the way for Detroit over their past seven games. Kane has turned back the clock, putting up 10 points over that span, while DeBrincat has tallied seven points of his own.

The Red Wings are still looking for consistency but have enough offensive weapons to take advantage of a tired Golden Knights group. Look for Detroit to exploit Samsonov today.

Golden Knights vs Red Wings same-game parlay (SGP)

Red Wings moneyline

Dylan Larkin 3+ shots on goal

Dylan Larkin 1+ points

Dylan Larkin is a shoot-first player, but in his last two games, he's only put up two shots on goal, one in each game. The Red Wings need him to be aggressive like he's been his entire career (3.01 shots per game for his career).

Larkin was held off the scoresheet in the team's most recent game after putting up points in the previous four games, and if they’re going to win today, they need production from their top-line center and captain. Larkin has six points in his last seven games and should be able to find the scoresheet today.
