The Toronto Blue Jays are flying high following their extra-inning win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Now, the first-place Jays (yes, you read that right) will look to keep the struggles of the Atlanta Braves going when they open a series with the interleague foes at the Rogers Centre on Monday night.
My Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks break down why it could be a short night for Braves starter Grant Holmes, as well as a tantalizing same-game parlay.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: TEASER
Grant Holmes Under 15.5 Outs Recorded (-115 at BetVictor)
The Toronto Blue Jays scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning before taking the lead in the 10th to secure an impressive come-from-behind victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
And while it’s very early in the season, the win has the Blue Jays alone in first place in the American League East, which is perhaps not something many people would have thought would happen this season.
They also wouldn’t have thought that the Atlanta Braves would start the season winless though seven games and 1-9 through their first 10 on the road.
There a lot of things going wrong for the Braves. On offense, they rank 21st in OPS, 29th in strikeout rate, and their 3.3 runs per game is the fifth-fewest in baseball.
But the pitching hasn’t been much better (outside of Spencer Schwellenbach). Their team ERA is 22nd, and team WHIP is 26th. Injuries haven’t helped, with Spencer Strider and Reynoldo Lopez both on the injured list.
That means the Braves turn to Grant Holmes for the opener against the Blue Jays.
The 29-year-old right-hander is coming off an interesting performance against the Philadelphia Phillies. Holmes shut them out over four innings but was not very efficient, throwing 104 pitches, with just 58% of them for strikes, and walking four.
As a result, his advanced numbers aren’t pretty. Holmes owns a 5.92 expected ERA through nine innings. He is also walking 19.5% of the batters he’s faced. This means he can run up his pitch count quickly.
Tonight, he faces a Blue Jays lineup that may be still searching for more home runs but is scrappy as hell.
Toronto owns the third-highest batting average in the big leagues while ranking ninth in wRC+. The Jays also know how to work a count, having seen the seventh-most pitches this season.
Between getting guys on and working counts, five innings looks like the best-case scenario of Holmes tonight.
Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)
Grant Holmes Under 15.5 outs recorded
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI
Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is going to hit a home run. I swear. His advanced metrics all say it’s coming. You can get it at +350 for tonight’s game. However, I prefer him to drive in another run tonight.
Vladdy is in the 95th percentile when it comes to expected batting average, and Bo Bichette has been doing an excellent job of getting on base in front of him. He’s got multiple hits six times over his last nine games and has at least one RBI in each of his last three games.
Well, let’s do what’s logical here and add Bo Bichette to go Over 1.5 total bases. The Blue Jays shortstop looks like his old self following a disastrous 2024. Bichette is hitting .351 over his last eight games, topping 1.5 total bases five times over that stretch.
